No that is not likely the reason. My wife and have friends and neighbors who are both Ukrainian and Russian. They are all good people and are heartbroken by the needless bloodshed. The one thing that they agree on completely is that the US has botched this and has made things much worse.
The idiots here do not care about the Ukrainian people at all. This is all a big game for them. Ukraine has lost a tremendous number people, many more lives have been ruined and their hope for the future has been crushed. Their corrupt leadership is taking advantage of the situation to become fabulously wealthy, just like the stooges we placed in charge in Afghanistan. Somehow those in charge escaped without a scrape and are now living the dream all over the world

What I recommend for you is get s nap of Europe, then get your Golden Book Encyclopedias out. Learn about Ukraine’s strategic position and resources.
Just maybe you could then have an intelligent conversation that has anything to do with the actual region and war.

Like I suggested, get a map and start to think about it.
