I appreciate your thoughtful post. You make some good points.

But the underlying problem we face now is the disintegration of our culture, along with what once were its norms and morays which contributed to social cohesion and stability in society. We also generally shared a common purpose of building a nation, which seems like a quaint notion now.

Cultural decline is a very hard thing to reverse. It may take a national calamity of some sort to even begin the process of restoring sanity and propriety back into the culture. Finding any common ground is nearly impossible now as we continue down the self-destructive road of national division. It would take extraordinary leadership to reverse this social, ethical and moral morass we now find ourselves in.

We’ve had division before, but this time its being accompanied by severe cultural decline, erosion of ethical standards, and sweeping demographic changes. And our problems are being compounded by an increasingly overbearing government. We have a daunting task ahead of us.
