I was just restating what I heard in news reports after previous shootings. I’m with you and not buying it.

My wife works in administration at a private university and that is exactly the reason given by the president of the college, it would make the students feel uncomfortable so they have unarmed security guards even though the rest of the administration is pushing for armed security.
I work in a community college setting and for all the talk and prattle college administrations are shoveling they have learned exactly nothing since Columbine and Virginia Tech. All they do now is preach, run-hide-fight and call 911, which is the same tactic that has been used since Columbine.
In my particular situation administration refuses to have even unarmed security claiming it would raise their insurance rates. Next year I will be here 30 years and have never seen a security guard on this campus despite assaults, stalking, threats, and people bringing guns on campus. In ALL-——ALL cases the events are hushed up and faculty and staff are not told anything.
Years ago we had a tutor lab connected to my department and one guy in particular who set off a red alert every time I saw him in my department was in the tutor lab and got mad and made the threat, I can bring my gun up here and do a lot of damage on you people! It was overheard by the director of the lab and she reported it to administration. The result: the student was not confronted or even spoken too. The lab went on like nothing happened and no other department was told of the situation. I found out from a faculty member who was privy to this information from a friend in administration and he told me everything and to be ready and watch this guy! I told another member of my staff and I prepared myself for a possible event through the rest of the semester until this guy was out of there.
Until faculty and staff are armed this idiocy will continue.
I never went to a school that had armed security, or any security at all.

Our county schools in TN had school resource officers.

Police say officers engaged with and killed the shooter, identified as a 28-year-old female carrying two “assault-type rifles” and a handgun.
According to Fox News, The female, who was only identified as a Nashville resident, killed three students and three adults before being killed by police just before 10:30 a.m. local time.
“At one point she was a student at that school,” Nashville police Chief John Drake said. “There was a vehicle nearby that gave us a clue to who she was.” Police say the shooter entered the building through a side door before climbing stairs to the second floor, where she then opened fire.”
How did she get into the building? Were the doors wide open / unlocked for anyone to walk in?
After the number of shootings that have occurred, there is no excuse for not having basic security in place.
Doors should not be unlocked for anyone to just walk in. Basic security measures not followed.
She entered through a side door. The police said all the doors were locked. They are investigating how she got in.
