And those are things Trump could have done more about. 3 years ago.

How?

And,don't use 20/20 hindsight.

Some love Trump with all their heart and all their might.

Should I be ashamed of that now, the Best President of my lifetime?

I've said it before because I'm not ashamed- I have a 6 foot cardboard cutout of President Trump by my front door that I salute every day. Even my family thinks it's weird, but I have friends who completely get it, and some of them salute with me.

So, most of it is likely name recognition.

Name recognition is great, but.. a lot greater than that is...

His accomplishments. People still remember and if they were to be honest with themselves, they'd want to have Trump do his MAGA again, and undo the damage done to use the last 2+ years.

Those were the best 4 years for Americans in over 100 years. Can't forget the history, but, those who want to forget are in denial about how great Trump was for the country.

The initial concern over COVID was fine. Within 6 months but probably even less it should’ve been apparent it wasn’t quite the Black Plague the communists wanted to take full advantage of.

Trump could have not relied so heavily on Fauci and Birx and other bureaucrats who only look at medical without balancing other issues. Why did CDC have so much control on how states would behave?

As far as the riots…he could have declared insurrection (hah - that’s what these same communists love to call Jan 6) and put them down. Don’t tell me a president couldn’t step in when it is clear mayors and governors are not obeying even their own laws and keeping civil order.

Nonsense. Who seriously thinks those were the best 4 years?

Don’t go by Trump’s endless narcissistic hyperbole, telling you his is the best ever,..EVER.

They were good years until 2020 (not all 4, then), but not the best in 100 years. Ridiculous.

Trump’s first 3 were alright, nothing great. He banned bump stocks during them, more gun banning than Obama ever did. But still..

2020, Trump’s last year, was about as bad as any year the USA’s been through. That’s just how it is, and there’s no talking it up as “good”.

Yes, his years minus The Disaster of 2020 were fine.

Trump’s endless hyperbole constantly told us he had the greatest This and the best That, ever…EVER (that’s the extent of his “great communication skills”, please note).

But that’s just bloviating.

His 3 years were good but not awesome. I just don’t get how anyone seriously thinks that. Maybe if you’re really young….

His USSC picks were also just so-so. Compared to a Souter situation he did great. I dunno, it’s just strange to me that people already have rose-colored glasses for Trump.

W’s first 4 years were good too, last 4 he was basically in vacation and that led to Obama. 2020 led to Biden.

I’d prefer someone young and new, like.. Yeah, Desantis.

Actually I am grateful for Trump’s SCOTUS picks. They may not be perfect but they are solid. And he got to do 3. What luck. Because of Trump we got Roe overtunprbed. I never saw thAt ever coming.

Yes, the USSC was mostly good. Probably as good as can be expected. There’s been a lot of “progress” with them.

We’re lucky the older ones have held out, and it’s why it’s vital to get 2024 no matter who wins the primary. I prefer Desantis, but I’ll certainly vote for Trump over Biden or Newsom.

Absolutely.

I kind of fear if they choose Newsom. Young Pretty boy of a big state who has a pretty big following. My odd brother likes him.

I keep hearing that the Dimocrats are afraid of Trump, but I don’t think that is entirely true. Sure they would like to take him out as a warning to others, but he is also useful to them.

His endorsed candidates win the primaries, sometimes with Dimocrat help and then lose the general. The Dims then use his endorsements in the general to effectively fund raise for their candidates.

And why would the Dims fear him, when he’s alienating a large part of his base with his juvenile name calling? It was novel once, but the schtick has grown old with many former supporters.

His rallies feed his ego and give his followers an emotional pep rally buzz, but is that translating into grassroot efforts to improve election integrity and robust precinct participation or is resulting in complacency?

What efforts of McConnell and Paul Ryan improve election integrity and encourage robust precinct participation?

“Trying to be analytical? But, your analysis fails to consider how angry the voters are, all of them, with what has happened to them in the last 2+ years, and they fear what’s to come in the next 2.”
********************************************************
We had this thing called an election in 2022 and all that seething anger didn’t result in gaining the Senate and barely allowed the house to be taken back. Trump’s endorsed candidates fizzled for the most part. Why would I think 2024 is going to be different?

I don’t know. Some think midterm and presidential election voters are different.

Are you saying Trump is as effective as McConnell and Ryano? That’s a very low bar.

Trump likes to bloviate about the situation, but is he using his clout to organize his followers and take on these challenges? Trump is clearly more reactionary than proactive. The Dims are reactionary, but they are always proactively moving forward with their schemes, too.

If you’re criticizing Trump, and you don’t provide an example of somebody who is more effective at making elections safer, it seems your criticism applies to all Republicans.
