How does the cost of the trained tank crew figure into that theory?

Russian military doctrine takes a very casual attitude to the death of soldiers. It's the Russian way of war. The Ukrainians share that attitude.

That's one reason why this conflict is so senseless, brutal and wasteful.

It is still losing a trained tank crew, and that kind of loss and careless use of life would hurt army morale and hurt Putin politically, it is one thing to waste untrained bodies charging the enemy but losing skilled equipment operators is always a problem.

It is Russia so they can do some of that, but this Russia is not Russia under Stalin, where they could completely ignore morale and politics and kill the complainers by the 10s and 100s of thousands or millions if needed.

Frankly just using the T-62 is already showing their lack of concern for Russian lives and I’m sure the soldiers notice the decline in equipment and discuss its meaning.

“They without question used it last year to destroy the NATO training complex in Western Ukraine.”

How do you know that?

The invasion is senseless, brutal, and wasteful but the victims of it fighting for survival are doing what they have to do, fighting the invaders.

“Russia has nearly no coastal cities. That’s how brilliant the design is.”

You think that once Ivan sets off the first nuke, NATO will just sit back and say”well, they just nuked the sea so we can’t respond “

Not top shelves thinking there as NATO will bounce the Russian rubble, whether their cities are inland or on the coast.

Agree 100%.

This war could have been stopped a few months into the conflict with a few territorial and security concessions.

The Biden Admin torpedoed the brokered peace deal and proceeded to give the Ukrainian forces the weapons and financial aid to to keep them a fighting brutal and destructive war that is unwinnable The US is the primary supporter of this conflict - EU is making only token contributions and even those minimal token contributions are seriously draining their limited reserves. only

America's ability to transfer 200 billion dollars and 20-30% of our war reserves of high tech munitions per year is rapidly coming to an end because it is simply unsustainable.

When this happens, the Ukrainians will be cut off, starved for weapons and supplies and left in the cold. I'm an unreconstructed Cold Warrior with no love for the Russians, but I am also realistic about how this war started and how it will end. America in not the good guy in this conflict. Biden lured the Russians into invading Ukraine and then lured the Ukrainians into a grinding WWI style conflict that is destroying large swaths of Ukraine and killing thousands. It's time for a negotiated settlement before Russia over runs and destroys much of the Ukraine.

There will be no Ukraine tanks in Crimea and talk of Ukraine tanks in Red Square are absurd, if for no other reason than the fact that the Ukrainian tanks are such disrepair that they would never make it to even the Russian border without breaking down. If we are not careful, we could see Russian tanks on the Ukrainian border with NATO and the old Warsaw Pact countries.

I think the operative word is as “artillery” which is usually well behind the battle lines.

Either way it’s a desperate move on Ivan’s part.

No, your pro-Russia invasion view doesn’t work.

Except that Russia is desperate for tanks, not ineffective tank use as artillery behind the front.

I am far from pro Russian.

I'm actually on the side of the Ukrainian people.

I think they are being set up fight an unimaginably destructive scorched earth proxy war on Ukrainian territory to bleed the Russians. This is precisely what is happening - NATO and US military and political leaders are crowing about how we are beating up the Russians without and NATO casualties or destruction on NATO territory - all because Ukrainians are ones dying and they are ones having their country destroyed and depopulated. When they have served their purpose and the US and NATO are forced to cut back support due to fiscal and supply constraints, the depleted and largely defenseless Ukrainians are going to be thrown to the Russian wolves and it will be very ugly. That is exactly where we are headed at this point.

“Star Wars” but the Russians this time.

You're on the right track, inquiry wise.

The question is: Does Russia have a plan or do they have something already built, they have the technological capacity.

No, the hardware used is not questioned.

The question is: does Putin consider that hardware no longer Hypersonic and why?

The term “hyperspnic” has a specific meaning. This characteristic won’t change just because the weapon is “old”.
