How was he able to buy guns? Because he wasn’t a felon, because his prior felony charge was plea bargained.

https://www.cnn.com/2023/02/15/us/michigan-state-university-mass-shooting-wednesday/index.html

Years before Anthony Dwayne McRae killed three Michigan State University students and critically wounded five others, he was charged with carrying a concealed weapon – a felony count that would have prevented him from being able to buy a gun if he were convicted.

That felony case never went to trial. Instead, a 2019 deal allowed McRae to plead guilty to a misdemeanor – possession of a loaded firearm in or upon a vehicle, the Ingham County prosecutor’s office said Tuesday. McRae spent a year and a half on probation.

Now, questions abound over whether the slaughter at Michigan State on Monday evening could have been prevented.

McRae purchased two guns in 2021 in Michigan, a law enforcement source said. One was a Taurus pistol, and the other was a Hi-Point 9 mm pistol, according to the source.

The Red States, like mine, WILL NEVER COMPLY. WE WILL be able to purchase rifles, pistols, shotguns, ammo, and all accessories REGARDLESS of what tyranny is implemented at the FedGov level. And organizations like FPC will be suing every government in the United States that implements such laws, because they VERY CLEARLY violate the 2nd Amendment and in particularly the Bruen decision.

Such an attitude is the result of the progressive’s push to blame everyone else for their own criminal actions. It’s always been a part of their beliefs, but it became part of national policy under the Obama administration.

The father’s first thought was to blame the gun and law-abiding gun owners for the actions of his son. He should have been looking inward and asking “Where did I go wrong, and why did my son think it was acceptable to shoot and kill others without any remorse whatsoever?”

Yeah. And lets bring back alcohol prohibition and outlaw all forms of legalized gambling. And tobacco too.

Respectfully, it is a FACT that the bulk of these nut-job shooters were not born as nut-jobs. Instead, marijuana (the modern version, which is 5X stronger than “grass” from the 60s and 70s) is ruining the mental health of millions of young people across the country. And if its not the marijuana, it’s the drugs that follow from marijuana use. I am very libertarian and really could care less if you want to smoke the bed sheets. However, people should be informed that EVERY DAMN ONE OF THESE SHOOTERS has mental health problems CAUSED by drug use.

So you’ve examined every mass shooter and determined they did what they did because of marijuana use. Is that you Harry J. Anslinger? Is this me?

I can tell you that as a criminal defense attorney for decades, the recent upsurge in marijuana use is causing the “mental health crisis” that is bemoaned about. Gee, I wonder why the “mental health crisis” did not exist until about 10 years ago? Hmm, what could it be?? Every knucklehead I get in my office has “anxiety” or “depression.” I ask: So how much weed do you smoke? They ALL smoke weed. The few that listen to me and stop using weed miraculously are cured of their anxiety and depression. As to the shooters, have you noticed that they all have mental health problems? And what is causing these people to hear voices? To be paranoid? Hmm, could it be.....DRUGS??? And marijuana is a major cause of these mental health problems.

This father needs to contemplate changing laws to prohibit ALL Democrats from owning/buying/possessing a gun. Think about how many fewer “shooters” there would be. About 90% less maybe???

All due respect to your experience and I mean that sincerely, I'm not trying to be a smart ass here but marijuana can induce these symptoms in some cases and others smoke it and are just fine.Arguing from a position of authority is not exactly a good tactic, practicing law is not practicing medicine. Other people smoke marijuana for medicinal purposes and don't become ‘’ nut cases’’. As for me, the only problem I ever had with weed was being caught with it. How ever on a personal note my demon was alcohol and today, by the grace of God and AA I'm thirty three years sober.

It’s not my “position of authority” but rather my position of experience. In the last 10 years, the number of juveniles and young people that I deal with (and I deal with dozens) who have “anxiety” and “depression” has gone through the roof. These fools are not smoking “grass”; rather, they are smoking genetically modified “marijuana” that has a THC content 3X (give or take) stronger than what kids smoked a generation ago. While it is true that many people can smoke this crap and have little or no adverse consequences, it doesn’t change the FACT that many people have developed mental health issues because of weed smoking, the most prominent issue being “depression.” I can tell you that I have probably had 75 to 80 young people in my office in the last decade who have been diagnosed in with “depression,” and every damn one of them was a marijuana user.

I see young people in my hospitals psyche unit every day some do have drug problems, I'm not denying that but all due respect 70 or 80 kids is not an epidemic. I've seen just as many bombed out of their skulls and others with no history of drug or alcohol abuse and who have genuine mental issues, like the ten year old kid who threatened to stab his mother to death because he wouldn't stop playingma video game. But adults should be allowed to make their own choices. Would you not agree?

Adults should make INFORMED choices. Modern “marijuana” is a highly addictive substance that is directly linked to the “depression epidemic.” Also, “medical marijuana” is a complete scam and is used by losers to legally obtain marijuana with the help of shady “doctors.”

Our culture is going down the tubes. We should be screaming to our kids and young people (and everyone for that matter) to to stop using marijuana. Intsead, we are mainstreaming this crap.

With all due respect marijuana is not physically addictive. Alcohol is. I know because it damn near killed me. Marijuana has medicinal uses, alcohol does not. In my state of NJ marijuana is legal and you must be 21 or over that age to purchase it. I agree it shouldn’t be allowed to be sold to underage kids.

Again sir, I respect the legal profession, without it we’d have anarchy but if you’re going to be on a crusade against marijuana then lets go whole hog. Bring back alcohol prohibition and eliminate legalized gambling and out law tobacco and all tobacco products.

Alcohol was once used for “medicinal purposes” also. That was a total scam, just like medical marijuana is a scam. In fact, many people still use alcohol to self-treat chronic back pain, migraine headaches, etc. There are multiple treatments, OTC drugs, and prescription drugs that can deal with virtually any issue that “medical marijuana” supposedly treats, the exception being severe glaucoma. Again, I can only speak for dozens of clients who have confided that their medical marijuana cards are a scam so that they can obtain marijuana legallly.
As to the alcohol vs. marijuana argument, when consumed in moderate amounts, alcohol is fairly harmless, whereas marijuana (and other illicit drugs) can cause permanent brain damage.

I have enjoyed the back and forth but have to end this conversation, so I will give you the last word.

Alcohol destroys brain tissue, causes liver disease and a host of other medical problems. medical marijuana stimulates appetite and eases the nausea from chemo therapy.

No drug illegal or illegal is harmless but sorry but marijuana's effects are not permanent. Alcohol's effects are life lasting.

Ever meet a ‘’wet brain’’? I have . lots of them in AA. How about fetal alcohol syndrome adults? Ever meet one of those? Again I have.
