every time you pay some outrageous price for ANYTHING, you should thank a liberal for their response to covid and remember that you weren’t “essential” to them.
50lb bag of chicken feed is $20-$25, was $12-$17, but hey it was warm yesterday so we got 6 eggs. Soon we will be back to 12 a day
At least coffee is still available.
If anything ever happened to the coffee supply chain, it would bring this country to it’s knees faster than anything I can think of.
Except maybe chocolate.
Eggs in our part of N. Cali. came back down last week to $5 a doz for house brand grade A large brown.
Our coffee beans were on sale.
We don’t buy nor eat cereal.
My wife commented that last week our total was back to about 100 $’s, +or- $10.. It had gone up to about $130/140.
We buy a lot of fresh produce/meats and those prices were down last week.
One of the clerks said that Super Bowl Buying with the exception of beer, pizza and chips had decreased that day.
Apparently, their management in Sacramento can increase or decrease the price of shelf items based on demand/trends at the cash registers and with clerks using portable scanning device checking on inventory levels on the stores’s shelves or warehouse.

My 6.99 coffee is 10.99. My 1.29 eggs are 4.99.
Funny, I was just at the grocery store and everyone was fine.
Our COSTCO was out of eggs over the weekend, but the Fred Meyer across the street, had doubled their egg stocks. They had as many eggs as Costco usually has.

At least one or two items at the store cause my sticker shock to go top end.
Tart cherry juice (reduces gout and joint trouble) in past 2-3 years was $3.29, $3.49, $3.99 then $4.99 and this week $12.49 (one brand). Luckily Kroger still had one left at around $5 or so.
Rule of thumb is to remember the old prices of most items and mentally add $1 or more to each.
About eggs: If you have to ask about the price it means you’re not rich enough to afford them.
People with a servant doing the shopping and returning in a Bentley Continental GT ($235,600) don’t worry about it.
