The Russians launched the biggest war in Europe since 1945. Quite obviously, NATO would resist. This placed Germany in an impossible position, and this by design. Part of the Russian's plan was to pry Germany out of NATO. Since Germany is the linchpin of NATO, this would have destroyed the alliance.
So in effect Russia invaded Ukraine with at least one of its goals to destroy NATO.
It's the worst thing Russia could have done to its partnership with Germany. Russia basically said "betray your friends, become Russia's bitch, and you'll get continued gas deliveries - for now."
These are not the actions of a good faith strategic business partner. They are the actions of La Cosa Nostra breaking knees to collect protection money.
No self-respecting people could possibly tolerate that.
Go and swallow a bullet, kangaroo-shagging troll, so this forum and the world will be rid of you at last.
That was, of course, meant in a humorous fashion.
