Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that more “conflict” was needed in Congress, like the exchange between Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL) and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) during the 14th vote for Speaker of the House.
Anchor Jake Tapper said, “The state of our union is reeling from a wild week this morning after historic struggle. Kevin McCarthy is House speaker. He won ugly, but he won. It took 15 ballots, a divisive speaker struggle not seen since before the Civil War, agonizing negotiations, concession after concession, the hardliner holdouts, and a near brawl between a McCarty ally, Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers and chief instigator Congressman Matt Gaetz.”
Roy said, “First of all, let’s remember a little temporary conflict is necessary in this town in order to stop this town from rolling over the American people. I don’t think anybody on either side of the aisle could say with a straight face they think Washington is doing good work for the American people on a regular basis and isn’t broken. We have to work to fix this place.”
We can only hope they keep running Jeffries out front. He will further destroy the party.
And, Chuck Todd asks Hakeem Jeffries how it feels to be the first black leader in Congress. Wow, that was a tough question.
Good for Chip Roy. He got it right. People are disgusted with the way the dems are trying to destroy the country. They try and hide it but it’s impossible to hide.
As always there are many points of view, however I personally think that these things do go in Cycles and right now something I have mentioned in the past appears to be at the "bad" cycle apogee.
Strauss–Howe generational theory, "The Fourth Turning" may be worth a read for those interested in historical cycles
Let’s see if the Reps can pass the agreed upon reform package. Will McCarthy’s allies kill parts of it?
Good start to any reporter's assertion. He'll be good.
Good question,I have no idea.
It’s continually amazing how well dressed, well shod, and well tech-connected those poor “refugees” are.
Maggie Brennan over at CBS trying to get SC-R. Nancy Mace to dump on R’s speakership process, complaining about secret deals aka Nancy Pelosi.
Mace kept trying to walk the fence for her purple constituency but actually sounded like she’s pissed she was left out of negotiations. Did she expect a 218 member caucus on the house floor ? Brennan couldn’t get Mace to boldly denounce anything....just that she has heartburn from the process.
Never to be deterred, CBS then went to TX-R Tony Gonzalez to dump on the deal. He’s indicated he may not approve of the rules changes as too conservative.
FYI. No reporter badge required, AB.
“I’m not going to play the ‘what if’ games on how we’re going to use the tools of the House to make sure that we enforce the terms of the agreement,” Rep. Chip Roy of Texas said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “But we will use the tools of the House to enforce the terms of the agreement.”

Comprehensive immigration reform has been the code phrase for amnesty for more than two decades. The Dems and RINOs are holding hostage the enforcement of our immigration laws for amnesty. The Chamber of Commerce wants amnesty as well. They want an endless supply of cheap, exploitable labor.
Biden is giving the millions of illegals who have been admitted into the country work permits.
Okay, I'll give you a ribbon:
Once these “refugees” enter Mexico, they are ineligible for asylum. Mexico is a safe country. Asylum seekers don’t get to select which country they wish to settle in.
I may have mentioned, but will again, some respected pundits maintain that as many as 100 old and new Rs in this congress could be supportive of the America First/MAGA/Freedom Caucus initiatives.
Stiffen up, ladies and gentlemen. I’m not thrilled with McCarthy but he may be the best option to bridge these 100 with the old guard. One hopes. I’ve doubted Trump before, only to be proven wrong.
And a clawback in accumulated wealth while in office. Limit increases in personal wealth to the lower of 2.0% or that year's inflation rate while the person is in DC.
And government pensions should be limited to a corresponding maximum Social Security benefit. One per customer, no multiple pensions.
Yup. Comprehensive with these people ALWAYs means amnesty.
Always.
However, in regards to the CoC, if the illegals are given amnesty, won’t they have “rights” to demand more wages and pay?
Seems leaving them in limbo means they have incredible leverage to threaten to call CBP if they get “uppity”?
