Totally agree.
The "event" has been about money and power and control.
well, they do have individual income tax but that’s only 8% of taxes collected. Other local taxes are an animal husbandry tax and an animal slaughter tax, ag tax, vehicle tax, deed tax, and a banquet tax. Wiki says 26 different taxes.

I suppose xi could blame his tame scientists and execute a few of them for being wrong.
There is a lot of truth in those words. I work with many people in China and they are starting to say something similar. Not the hari-kari part but the part about if they change the plan, it’s a sign of weakness.
One woman I work with said that the testing stations were she lived in Shanghai were like temples. She sent pictures and I could see why.
China has no honor culture, at least not in the way we see it. Their philosophies all come down to might makes right and the victor decides if an action was honorable or not. There are plenty of examples to back that up in their own literature. they honor the history of a man who would murder civilians by the hundreds of thousands because his ultimate goal was the unification of China. As long as his goal was virtuous and he won his actions were virtuous.
