In a war with Russia or invade Russia. There is a big difference. One of the few absolute adages of statecraft is that there two countries never to be invaded; Russia and China. ( I would argue North America also) Russia can be defeated in its borderlands such as Poland, the Ukraine and even western Belorussia but going for the heartland centered around Moscow is likely to end badly. So do the NATO-Washington foreign policy and military elites believe this rule is no longer operative?
