Or they can go back to how stuff was sold before self-serve supermarkets. You go up to a counter and tell the clerk what you want and he goes back to the shelves and gets it for you.
Everything will at the back of glass.
Yes lol. The Randy answer..
I still crack up at how hesitant he was at first, but he really goes for it when he gives the answer.
yep. I agree
In my town (Olympia WA), four stores are regularly robbed two or three times a week
Elected officials are silent on the problem. Absolutely silent.
Fortunately, I think the Dems have finally touched the crazy third rail with the movement to legalize loitering for prostitution. Leftist women will tolerate a lot but one thing they absolutely will not is packs of hookers on street corners waiting to do business with their husbands and sons. It looks like Oregon will have its first GOP governor in 40 years. I’d bet more are on the way.
YES.
If it were the media’s nonsense “covid” narrative, robberies would be occurring more or less randomly from book stores to groceries to Home Depot
The fact it is inner-city drug/sneaker/beauty stores nearly exclusively tells you all you need to know about who is doing it, and why.
Not even blue states. Blue cities.
I am in a blue state and our sheriff’s department will build the jail on top of you if need be.
It’s not theft it’s giving back to the community.
The home improvement stores have very high theft.
They now have gates locking certain items like hair products, cosmetics and razor blades. I wonder if they actually sell any of those items. I can't envision a scenario where I will hunt down a clerk to unlock a gate so I can get some deodorant or toothpaste. I'll just get it somewhere else.
Well, the pandemic was an excuse for everyone to wear masks... many areas have laws against this that were relaxed to accommodate the pandemic policies.
“Before the Soviet Union fell, a large chunk of the economy was the Black Market.”
Agreed. Go to any swap meet in So. Cal. and look at all the brand new merchandise being sold at half the retail price.
This was the business model for a few stores I remember as a youth. The prices were consistently lower than department stores. I could do that for everything except meats and produce
I had to hunt down a clerk the other day to buy my daughter fever blister ointment. It boggles the mind.
Want it stopped?
Get rid of the tax deduction for shrinkage losses.
Just a thought.
You are mistaken. I live in a 98% red area with a tough state’s attorney and determined cops. I work for a big-box retailer. We all try hard to stop theft and get a kick out of thwarting the thieves. But it’s very hard to stop or catch them. If you have some concrete suggestions on how we could do a better job, please let us know.
I’m glad that in my part of the state (Tri-Cities), we don’t have that $900 nonsense or the organized theft gangs
