What if they want gun stores to handle lots of cash?
What if this hurts business?

Or we can just reduce use of credit cards and use more cash.

It’s hard to use folding money at an on line gun shop.
So I use your credit card. ;-)

From Business Insider:
"According to The Associated Press, the payment processors announced the change on Saturday, after the International Organization for Standardization, a Geneva-based nonprofit, approved the creation of a merchant code for gun retailers."
"Until Friday, gun store sales did not have a unique code and were considered 'general merchandise,' according to a spokeswoman for the ISO."

I buy a $500 rifle on plastic and the credit card takes 2% (=$10) and has a record that I bought a rifle.
I buy a $500 rifle with cash and the credit card takes 0% (=$0) and has no record that I bought a rifle. But they also don't get $10.
Do the credit card company's stockholders like this business model?
To: zeestephen
Simple solution: gun dealers either give discounts for cash transactions, or add a fee to use credit cards.
Since transactions are recorded anyway, it both takes the CC companies out of the information flow, and saves the gun dealers CC fees, which can be large.

Great point!!! I wonder how many of the school shooters used credit cards to buy their guns. We could probably use a good “study” to find out. Give the banks some ‘splainin’ to do to their customers.

I steel my guns. I am a violent criminal.
Good question though.

Well guess just need to go buy not gun stuff too.
More noise.
It is not like they are not running the checks with the NCIS.
Feds have paperwork.
Just exposes the information to banks and anyone who gets your cc history.
To: zeestephen
Don’t use your credit card to buy them.
