Well, that dancing school won’t be sending anybody to audition for the Bolshoi...or even the NYC Ballet.

Way to go, idiots!

I’ll consider up “while European” music and culture when they give up while European medicine, electricity, plumbing, transportation, agriculture and everything else.

Even if people don’t take ballet into their future, taking classes while young creates limber and graceful people.

I guess in 2022 the stripper poll is the current thing.

Ballet is a “white European idea”, but its a highly specific one. Ballet as we know it is quite a recent invention as cultures go. It goes back to the origins of opera as a form of court music, which was sometimes enhanced by dance. It is, like opera, something that grew out of entertainment fads in the royal courts of Europe. It is about as upper class in origin as anything can be - its true origin is usually given as the elaborate entertainments given at the court of Louis XIV, in which he often participated himself. The whole thing went from royal court to royal court, until it came under the Tsars patronage in Russia, where it it became what we know today. It was a thing of Kings and Emperors.

I guess these “woke” morons have never heard of Lauren Anderson who was the prima ballerina of the Houston Ballet for several years.

I got to see her perform a few times. It really was poetry in motion.

If you don’t wanna teach ballet, then DON’T TEACH IT.

Plenty of other institutions will.

Classical ballet is a discipline. If you go through the training you can use it to create your own pieces, which can be as “non-binary” as you like.
