Wonder what my “The Ruling Class” VHS is worth?
I have several vintage Alice Cooper VHS tapes that are desirable.
Two rare BOC tapes, as well.
Don’t want to part with them, though.
I have a lot of out of print VHS tapes, really.
I have a couple of bootleg ones I bought at an open market in the UK. Only to find out later half the content was missing because someone filmed the movie w/in and theater and an usher went by. 😆
You said that out loud? Ugh. Ever hear of TMI dude?
We have several Disneys before wokeness. Now those ought to be worth something.
I do too. Probably a lot of us have old Disney VHS tapes.
No,THOSE got tossed about 35 years ago..I hung on to the VHS tapes ,till my VHS RECORDER died a quiet death......I’ve been taping stuff for 40 years like ERNIE KOVACS show etc........Material you can’t find or pay through the nose to own.....
I have a project/hobby digitizing old news, commercials, local ads, etc. I also collect tapes. It’s a really fun hobby and the tapes run fine. I have a few from the mid-1080’s that probably look and sound as good as the day they were recorded. On YouTube, if you look up a channel called Dave’s Archives, he digitizes tapes going back to the early 80s. Another channel, 80s commercial Vault has some digitized commercials going back to the late 70s. Tapes wear fast with heavy use though. I remember the countless times I watched E.T. as a kid and that tape didn’t look so good after a while.
“Ultra Rare Industrial Sony SLO-1400 Betamax HiFi Stereo Player Recorder
Price: US $995.00”
Found it recently while cleaning out some junk. I'm guessing it cost her around $35.00. Dozens for sale on eBay, all about $6.00, lol.
“I have a few from the mid-1080’s...”
WOW!
Movies that came out on VHS but never made it to DVD are the ones most sought after by collectors. Chances are a good working VHS copy of "Blackbird" is worth some money.
In fact there's a used copy on Ebay right now for $22 + shipping.
Whoops! Lol

How’s the resolution?
😉
“Now they tell me...Tossed 500 VHS tapes a few years ago....”
Got me beat. I probably tossed almost 100 of them a while back. I was surprised how much all that weighed.
You might be surprised.
I boxed up a ton of tapes from the 80s and 90s while cleaning out my parents’ house. Since most were unlabeled, I had to go through and view them so I could write up a label before giving them to a friend who collects old tech. Very, very few of them had gone bad...many were in fact crystal clear like they had been recorded yesterday.
Many people don’t realize that the stuff taped off television back in the day is worth more, in a sense, than any commercial tapes. TV stations didn’t maintain an archive of a lot of their programming...in many cases, somebody’s home recording is all that’s left!
Another great site for digitized tapes (based mainly on Chicago television) is fuzzymemories.tv.
For decades, I’ve held on to an unopened E.T. VHS. Can’t imagine it’s viewable but the box is pristine.
My first thought too
“They’re for collecting, not watching”
sort of like “investment sardines” weren’t for eating ...

I have some that still look good, so yours might still be viewable, too. After all, your gauss is as good as mine:)
