It’s seen in people, especially adolescents, who have difficulty managing their emotions. It has generally been associated with Borderline Personality Disorder, eating disorders and developmental disorders, but can be a symptom of depression, extreme anxiety, and, yes, seen in those who experienced childhood trauma, childhood abuse (including physical and/or sexual), negative life events, etc.

It was also part of the emo fad among middle school and high school kids. His hairstyle and poses and the eyeliner thing are emo-ish. I thought emo had gone out of style, but maybe not or it came back?
I knew someone once with this problem. A psychiatrist friend of mine said that’s what cutting oneself is a symptom of but you’re right, it could be a lot of things. It just seems plausible because the mother doesn’t seem to be stable and could have had him around a lot of people who were not good for any child to be influenced by. But all is speculation at this point.

Drug money or easy credit. I suspect like most of these types there was marijuana all over it. That tends to need some digging to find out since it’s basically ‘acceptable’ now.

True. Now we find out his grandfather is a convicted felon. He was living with his grandparents at the time of the mass murder.

I’m probably not up to date on the facts but suspect that maybe the school resource officer heard the commotion going on and opened that door to check things out. Maybe just a matter of bad timing that the shooter showed up at exactly the wrong time, or he retreated back inside without locking the door behind him.
