Our opinions differ greatly. Her speaking skills are lacking.

Kathy Barnette can win in the general election and Ford is bringing back the Edsel by popular demand.

You must have been watching a far different version of the debates that I saw.

True - you can’t really know at this point.

But there are warning signs you can look for.

I watched Oz in a few town halls…

- when people asked him if he believed the election was stolen he wouldn’t give a strait answer - instead he said something like “election integrity is so important - we have to build trust in our Democracy”.

- when people asked him if he thought a person can choose what gender they are - or if sex is determined at birth - and how many genders there are - he would not give a straight answer. Just another platitude about how “these are difficult issues” and “parents need to feel they are being heard” - or some BS.

- they asked him when he believes life begins - no straight answer. He did say he was pro-life - but it reminded me of the time Mittens saying he was a “severe conservative” - it sounded a forced.

- they asked him about the border - no straight answer.

These are bad signs - I think he is already hedging his bets - trying to have it both ways - he wants be just conservative enough to win the primary - then flip to moderate as soon as he’s the nominee. For this to work, he needs to avoid being caught on tape saying anything “too embarrassingly conservative” that the Democrat can use against him in the general.

This is exactly the mentality that begets RINOs.

Kathy Barnette is not playing this kind of game.

Trump, Reagan, DeSantis, Paul, and Cruz were all unelectable. How did they do?

Sharron Angle, Todd Aiken, Richard Mourdock, Christine O'Donnell, and Roy Moore were all unelectable. How did they do?

The propaganda for Barnett is strong!

The media have stopped lying to us, they think she can win! Really really!

You’d sure be doing great things for the GOP party if you select her over Oz!

The media don’t have anything on her that they want to spring on her after she wins the primary!

Nevermind those anti-muslim and anti-gay tweets.... They would never use those to pound her every single day, hour by hour.... No no no no no no no .....

you have a good point. but let’s have an honest election (big if) plus an honest choice (which we will have if Kathy makes it in) and then let’s just see how many working class independents and dems turn out for kathy, compensating for your country club republicans.

especially if Trump’s wing of the gop goes to work for her in the general and protects her from the gope wing. imho, that’s where he should be throwing his weight around as the self-styled leader of the gop, not in the nominating process.

You bring up a very important point, one that is almost never discussed here.

Trump was elected by Democrats in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Democrats are the obvious replacement for what people call the “RINOs” (although I think the “RINOs” are the real Republicans).

Anyway, the Christine O’Donnell, Sharon Angle, Todd Aiken, Richard Mourdock, Joe Miller faction (of which Barnette is trying to be a member) cannot win the votes of RINOs, and in 45/50 States, a GOP candidate has to win the RINOs or they cannot win the general.

Republican candidates who are elected with RINO votes inevitably support the leftist agenda, most of the time.

So - there is no reason to keep nominating as the GOP candidate someone who cannot win RINO votes, because they let a far-Left candidate win.

And, there is also no reason to nominate, as the GOP candidate, someone who can win WITH the RINO votes, because they will fail to arrest the collapse of America.

So, to quote Lenin, “What is to be done”?

What is to be done is to nominate Republicans who do not repel the majority of Democrats. I know lots of Democrat voters. They are not at all the way they are caricatured around here.

They have some red lines that a candidate who wants their vote cannot cross.

But they also support a lot of what we need to be done, on immigration, on export of manufacturing, on financialization of the economy, on an end to foreign wars on behalf of alien peoples.

Trump grabbed a bunch of these people. That’s the future of electoral politics in this nation, if it has a future.

well said.

in fact, for example, Reagan (and Perot) grabbed a bunch of those dems and independents you are talking about, including me and my working class family in OH (and many others throughout the south). dems and independents who could never bring themselves to vote for fake (dem light) “conservatives” like bush, mccain or romney.

the key is for them to feel confident in the working class, nationalist, populist, christian/family value bonifides of the candidate in question. that they actually believe in the talk they talk because they are willing to walk it.

if the gope can smear them successfully with fear mongering tactics as they did with Trump (unsuccessfully in 2016), DeSantis (unsuccessfully but it was very close), Akin, Murdock, Miller, O’Donnell, Moore, Angle, (perhaps most recently Herbster) and many others of our best, most godly conservatives, then they win (but as you say a Pyrrhic victory as the continue to destroy our Republic).

OK, Bucky! Tell us what her position on BLM and the 2020 riots was. Tell us who it is she wants to erect monuments to. Tell us ALL about her conservative past—— BEFORE she thought she could get elected as a Republican.

Asshole.

Good points. It explains a lot of Trumps appointees, people who the Ryans, the Pelosis, and the Shumers could vote for.

Hell with that. Just either build a party that represents our values or stay home.

I reject the premise of this article. Electability is essential for any candidate. If a Republican nominee cannot win the General Election, the Democrat will certainly win.

The question is how you make an assessment of electability and then next you need to make an assessment of how that candidate will perform in office. Barnette might be electable, but she has some serious hurdles that she must clear. Her biggest problem is her inexperience and seems to be unready for a tough state wide election. If she can overcome these problems, then voters will have to decide if she can be an effective conservative Senator. She is saying the right things, but she has no track record, Voters will have to take a chance.

Dr. Oz is saying that he supports Trump and will serve to advance a conservative policy agenda. That doesn’t match his previous public record. He is probably has the best chance of winning the general election.

Either choice is going to be somewhat a leap of faith. I find it interesting that both parties are in a panic that she has become a serious candidate. In other words, the establishment are doing whatever it takes to destroy her campaign. Is this a choice between the establishment or the people? Probably.

That's jsut the point -- she can win in November. I'm not sure oz or McCormick can. Remember, McCain and Romney were nominated becasue they were electable. Reagan, Trump, Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and Ron DeSantis were all unelectable -- for many of the same reasons Barnette is considered unelectable. And Barnette is teh most conservative on the issues. She would be an outstanding senator.

-- Barnette can win. --

In the sense that probability of anything is never zero.

As with Trump, the professional political class will do everything in its power, with the full support of the press, to insure she does not. It's personal.

“As with Trump, the professional political class will do everything in its power, with the full support of the press, to insure she does not. It’s personal.”

This is a fact, and that absolutely includes the Republican side of the “professional political class”.

Remember, whenever some scared liberal (of either party) shrieks “Barnette can’t win!” they are leaving out a few words, it’s really: “Barnette can’t [be allowed to] win!”

Don’t believe that? Ask those schmucks who they’d rather see as PA’s next Senator, Barnette or Fetterman? If they’re honest (LOL) they’ll admit it’s Fetterman. They’d much rather have a confirmed Nazi in their elite club than some unwashed conservative. A 100% liberal doesn’t scare them at all but ANYONE who can be described as conservative terrifies them.

When they say “she can’t win”, they intend to — and will — do everything in their power to make it so. That’s why, if she does win the primary, Trump needs to wipe the egg off his face, swallow his ego, and endorse Barnette ASAP. It’ll be her and Trump against the elites and the squishes of BOTH parties — just like it was for Trump in 2016 and 2020 so he sure ought to know how it feels.
