"I see none at all."

I see no difference either. Hitler admired socialism, but he hated the socialism that Russia embraced, so he wanted to bring his own form of socialism to Germany. I love it when liberals try to explain the inclusion of the word Socialist in the National Socialist German Workers' Party. They like to claim it was included to entice more people to join the party.

"What did your father think about Penn Central being taken over by the federal government, as part of Conrail?"

I don't remember my father actually talking about it at the time, but knowing him, and his love of the railroad, I'm sure he was deeply saddened that the New York Central Railroad would cease to exist. He retired about two years after the merger, at the age of 72, which also tells me he wasn't happy. Had the merger not happened, he would have probably continued working until he dropped dead on the job. He'd worked for them over 50 years.

I asked my mom and dad, if they ever regretted a presidential vote, and both said yes, JFK, and they voted for him because he was Catholic.

I remember when JFK was running for President. The big question at the time was would his religion interfere with his Presidential decisions. Democrat politicians were asking that question as well back then. All these years later, and the Democrat party has become the Godless, evil party of infanticide.

At least my mother and father learned their lesson, they voted for Goldwater in 64.

I also asked them about that election.

That’s a long time. I wonder if he had a look at what his party did to the railroad industry in general; they were the first target of the left, starting with Wilson’s federal takeover under USRA that was quickly reversed before he left office due to its unpopularity, but quickly resumed after WWII what with the federal government getting involved with highways and airports and breaking the railroads with heavy taxation and regulation.

I don't know if he ever talked about it with the men he worked with, or what was discussed at the union meetings he went to. My father always said the Democrat Party was the party of the working man. I never told him, but I used to say that the Democrats were the party that took away from the working man, and gave it to those that don't work. I do know that if he were alive today, he wouldn't recognize that party, and he certainly wouldn't be voting for them.

Michael D. is further left than Bernie and President of Ireland is a mostly ceremonial position.
