“ I’ve been taking vitamin D for many years, and I still contracted Covid-19.”
But, wait. You didn’t die did you?
I’ve been taking vitamin D
..................................
What dosage?
seems the powers that be did everything they could to avoid this topic.

No profit!
Well, you are in that lucky 6% that catches Covid despite taking your vitamin D. It reduces, but does not entirely eliminate the risk,
Some Doctors have felt strongly about this, and said (long before the Crud started) something to the effect of “We don’t have a Flu Season, we have a Vitamin D deficiency season”.
Anyone who lives in the northern hemisphere especially. It might even be warm enough in March or April to sit outside and sunbathe, but due to the sun angles and earth tilt, there are too many layers of atmosphere for the suns rays to penetrate. Consequently it doesn’t do any good at all in terms of building natural D. This is what I have been told.
It’s also my understanding that Vitamin D supplements, it takes some time to build adequate levels, and it should be taken year round, not just in the Winter months. Blood testing is the only way to be sure.
As always, consult your Health Care Provider. No User Serviceable Parts Inside. All The Usual Standard Disclaimers Apply. Do Not Taunt Happy Fun Ball
It is possible you were not taking enough to achieve a high enough serum blood level to offer protection.

The report of the study (see the post) points out that taking vitamin D is therapeutic regardless of the serum level of the vitamin.
Same here. Both hubby and myself. However, with age (60’s) and co-moralities (congestive heart failure. obesity, etc), we both pulled through. I really do believe that, without the 5000 IU’s VitD3 and the zinc that we had started taking months before, it would have been a lot worse. Mind you, it was not a walk in the park, but we survived and are doing fine. Got it over Thanksgiving of last year. Hubby did finally get azithromycin for some lingering symptoms.
Thanks. “EyePromise” is what my doc recommended. I might switch over when I run thru the latest order (It’s on Amazon, too.)
Um, that would be Co-MORBITIES.
FRoctors!
Cheerios and Fruitloops
Smothered in Sweet, Whole
Milk.
I think it’s the
Sliced Nanner that works.
I started taking Vitamin D daily this past winter. No covid, variants, flu nor colds. Not bad for age 65 and traveling a lot on the job.
I started more than 5,000iu of D3 in May of 2020. Got WuFlu September of 2021. Didn’t die, BTW.

Kinda expensive.😲
Yes it is therapeutic if you have contracted Covid.
It must be at a higher blood serum level to prevent respiratory illnesses.
but we know ourselves what is helping our health...
nobody in this household has had the vax and nobody has gotten covid......we are religious about taking our vitamins and even trying to eat better....
my vit d level was at 60 last fall...
My health declined when I was on midwatch for many years. I was not taking any D supplements at all. I was catching the flu every year too. I now advise the younger people who are on midwatch to be sure and take supplements. I wish I had. It was on that long stretch that I came down with Diabetes too.
For the past 30 years, I have recommended and personally take a 50,000 unit capsule once per week. You can but a bottle of #100 for around $40.
You’re not dead are you😁
