Had to look that up on Wikipedia.
Please help me out here (it's been 40 years for me since I last set foot on one of the 17 campuses belonging to the "California State University and Colleges" system - does that even still exist?): The name "Revelle" didn't ring a bell - apparently it was a component part of the U. of San Diego?!
Anyway: I knew some great guys from UCSD - they were in the Internat'l Program (exchange year abroad) with me. (You won't have known them since you are apparently about 5 years my senior.)
So, is/was Revelle a "part" of UCSD like the various different colleges of Oxford?
Regards,
I can't imagine acquiring anything approaching a high degree of proficiency in such diverse languages unless one begins in elementary school AND has a true aptitude for languages. Consider myself to have native proficiency in only two languages (my native language of English, and - after four decades of living here - German), and working knowledge of one other (Russian). Being married to a university instructor for East Slavonic tongues helps.
How would you characterize your level in such a motley assortment of languages? Can you read classics in the respective languages for your own enjoyment - i.e., with your "feet on the fender?" Do you use them on a daily basis? How does that "work?"
Regards,
