“It would be like the US invading Mexico, failing to capture Mexico City and then falling back to try to grab all of Mexico’s northern provinces.

Pathetic.”

What is pathetic is your understanding of war strategy.

Ever think that Russia did not plan on invading other cities? Ever think that they used diversion by attacking from all sides simultaneously, north, east, and south, and surrounding the cities to lock down the Uke soldiers in those cities?

Lock them down while the Russians destroyed all of their support like mercenary training barracks and oil supplies? And now the Ukes are spread out over multiple cities while the Ruskies invade and take Mariupol where the Nazi Azov force is concentrated and the Uke support is locked down scattered across numerous cities thinking the Ruskies want to invade.

In the meantime, the Ruskies are moving the might of their force to the very east of Ukraine, which is/was their primary target from the beginning and where the majority of the Uke troops are concentrated and where the Ukes have killed off over 13,000 in the last 8 years.

Yes. It is pathetic that you do not understand. That’s why you are sitting behind a keyboard and not directing an army!

“The US politicians in the USA want a war as it will coverup the money laundering they are doing.”

We agree. That is certainly one good reason. Ask Joe and Hunter Biden.

Another good reason is that the DC crowd sees this as a strategic war against Russia. In other words, a proxy war that will destroy Russia. So far they are badly wrong!

LOL. They clearly tried a series of quick advances to try to seize Kharkov, Sumy, Kiev and topple the regime. They failed.

Now Putin may be trying to concentrate forces to take the east, but he's denuded the Kherson region of forces so the Ukrainians are advancing there. And they know they can't face Russian armor head on, so they whack what they can, let it pass, and then just keep whacking support units and picking the advance units off when they halt.

Russian commanders have almost no discretion. They're told to take an objective and await orders. They can't reinforce and commence many new attacks before the Ukrainians start wearing the front units down and destroying logistics.

Putin tried to knife Ukraine. But it's an amoeba, and now it's slowly digesting his arm.

You sound like CNN or ABC. Is that you making it up as you go along??

Are you getting your information from the same crowd that told us Russia would crumble, the economy would tank and the Ruble would crash? Now that’s very reliable. Right?

You would think so.

More doublespeak from our reliable politicians. Watch what they do and NOT what they say. They will say anything. It has no meaning.

No one I can recall said Russia's economy would crumble overnight although it is being hurt considerably.

As far as the ruble goes, exchange of the ruble with many currencies is now heavily restricted, both by outside powers and Russia itself, almost the same as in the Soviet Union. What's the black market rate for a Russian trying to get dollars in Moscow? Probably much higher than the "official" rate that almost no one can obtain.

As far as my amoeba simile goes, it seems to fit the facts on the ground fairly well.

What a dumb statement. Why the heck did Xiden launch what he called the most crushing sanctions ever incurred if he did not expect a devastating blow to Russia? Furthermore, I’m not sure what planet you are on but here on this planet, every major media outlet shouted as loud as they could that the Russian economy would tank.

Here is just one of many from what I suspect is your favorite news source — CNN.

Russia faces financial meltdown as sanctions slam its economy

As for your amoeba comment, it makes as much sense as your Ruble comment. The Ruble trades today at about the same as it did before the special military incursion and sanctions.

Where do you get your information that it “fits the facts?” Does that come from CNN, too?

I don't read or view CNN, the WaPO, NYTimes at all. Almost all American news sources are worthless either due to bias or simply ignorance of the subject matter on which they are reporting. I do read the European papers in Britain, Germany, France and Poland (the last in translation). They have their biases which are fairly easy to see and to discount, mainly because they are open about their political allegiances whereas the American sources pretend they don't have any.

As far as the sanctions effects go I never expected the Russian economy to collapse, although sectors dependent on foreign trade, foreign supplies and foreign financing will suffer immensely. I just think that's undeniable.

As far as the war goes, the maps of areas under Russian control or Russian advance show that Russia now controls far less of Ukraine than it did two weeks ago. And that's true no matter which maps you look at. The Russians attempted a lightning seizure of major cities including Kyiv and replacement of its government with a puppet protectorate. That didn't happen because the Ukrainians fought harder and better than anyone expected to (including Western intel services). As a consequence, Russian forces were spread far too thinly to hold the territory into which they advanced. Spread out along roads and highways the Ukrainians were able to infiltrate behind Russian forces and local territorial militias were able to whack Russian supply lines. Hence my amoeba analogy.

Right now the Russians are trying to concentrate forces to cut off the Ukrainian army holding the fixed defenses along the former line of demarcation in the East. They seem to be having trouble relocating and refitting forces withdrawn from around Kyiv and Cherniv, many of which appear to have been badly mauled. Will the Russian attacks succeed? Hard to tell, although their current advance south of Izyum seems stalled.
