Many years ago my Mom used to teach a “Conversational English Thru Bible Study” class our church organized for Chinese students at our local University. (Or, was it “Bible Study Thru Conversational English”? Hmmm...)

Anyway, a very similar transition occurred with many of the Chinese students who initially were pretty, well, brainwashed back home. Quite a few ended up converting to Christianity and becoming US citizens - very good “quality”, contributing, high skill set citizens too, I might add. Granted that the “brainwashing” at our own local university was not quite so bad, then!
