“The good thing is TS can’t be held responsible for interactive content posted by users.”

Question will be... Is it just to cover their butts for liability reasons? Or will they enforce these making them hypocrites contrary to the free speech they have been advertising?

My thoughts were very similar. One can postulate their purpose being information gathering - in this day and age, nefarious intent is more likely than not.

I think there should be a few rules of the road. The majority will abide and the community will be largely self-policed. There may need to be some light enforcement for flagrant, repeat offenses. I hope they can keep the porn to a minimum.

I can appreciate a very heavy load on the first few days, but a month to roll out what is effectively another Twitter (as I understand it) and only accessible via Apples app store is absurd.

Android and web users are SOL!

... These are the standard woke terms of service for crybabies.

I’m OK with the plain terms without having to read tea leaves to portray them as woke.

We disallow many of the same things here on FR and it’s a better place because we do.

We have a free speech forum. The only thing we don’t allow is porn. With porn the liability is too high because it is too hard to tell if it might be underage porn or not. Which as you know is a serious issue with net legalities for a domain.

There is an interesting phenomenon that happens when there are no restrictions of speech. The use of offending speech is actually very very minimal. It is the opposite of what one would think. Psychologically it corrects it’s self.

Even though we allow absolute free speech without restriction, it is just about as clean as any board like the FR here is with restrictions. I guess folks know they absolutely can if they like, but in turn feel there is no real reason to so they just don’t.

The Washington Post calculated that in the four years of his presidency, the man now behind Truth Social made 30,573 false or misleading claims.

The Washington Post has been a CIA asset just about forever. I had a web location that detailed it that someone posted on FR, I can no longer find it. I hope that person pops up and gives that to me again.

Why release an app that isn’t fully functional yet?

Frankly if they were not ready then no rollout. They should anticipated the demand and planned for it with additional servers and equipment, it would not have been seamless, no new startup is, but could have been better organized.

Nunes was the wrong person to be in charge, a tech guy with experience was needed.

I finally got as far as creating a user name. Now, it’s saying I missed a step but it doesn’t indicate what step I missed. Frustrating. I’ll keep trying.

We regularly zot people for a very wide variety of reasons, including racist speech.

We also do not allow profanity, etc.

If you doubt this, just read through the Zot! threads.

The pioneers who first join can expect to take the majority of the arrows. That will clear the way to build a strong foundation and a capable response team.

I fully understand the situation here on the FR. This was not the point. If you advertise free speech like Truth Social did and then turn around and say “except for”... it is hypocrisy, false advertisement, and misrepresentation.

Just like how many Conservatives stand strong behind the first amendment of Free Speech “except in selective cases then it should be censored”. Well you either do or you do not, there is no “except” if you truly believe in Free Speech.

The FR has every right to restrict speech. But they don’t false advertise as “Free Speech” like Truth Social did either. The FR doesn’t claim to be what they are not. The FR is honest about it. Truth Social was not.

I mentioned earlier that I disagree.

Seems we’re at a standstill.

Not really sure what to make of Truth Social. GETTR has this space pretty much covered.

The security of GETTR is quite suspect, especially after firing most of their security folks. It won't be long until they get hacked. I deleted my GETTR account weeks ago. Would love to delete Parler too (asshats that they are) but since I get nothing but a "405 error" trying Truth Social, that's gonna have to wait I suppose.

Back in 2019 when he went after him for saying this: “So interesting to see ‘Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run.” Scott said it was “racially offensive”.
