Googling "UF" - first hit:

Ok,ok, got it now! Jeez, it sucks getting old.You get ... forgetful.
Both do have losses, but the sheer number of connections from pistons to wheels dwarf that of an EV.
EV’s aren’t all good, but they do offer certain advantages.
“You are running just under 5 seconds 0-60. I am under 4 seconds 0-60.”
But your comment was I’d see your taillights in 100 feet. Neither of us will get to 60 in 100 feet, but an EV will get to that 100 foot line first.
“You have 317 ft-lbs torque. I go twice that with ease plus I have a big weight advantage.”
You do realize that a lighter car with rear wheel drive and that much torque is a problem, not an advantage FOR SHORT DISTANCES?
Note the word “after”.
“Yes, of course there are gears inside the electric motor, and a shaft that goes to the left and right wheels.”
The gearbox is outside the motor and connects to another gearbox which drives two shafts, one counter rotating, to the wheels.
EV’s have about 1/3 the moving parts of traditional cars, which is why they are such jackrabbits.
For short races gasoline cars are at a disadvantage. For longer races the gasoline cars shine. No EV’s in the Indy 500.
But I’m not a race car driver and I’m guessing you aren’t either.
I didn’t buy my Mach e for the performance but it sure is fun to drive. A completely different experience from the fun of driving a regular car…and I grew up with a Shelby Cobra.
The closest comparison I can come up with is wooden roller coasters vs the ones that use a steel track & electromagnetic propulsion. Both are fun, both are coasters, both different experiences.
Take one for a spin and try it out.
“EV’s have about 1/3 the moving parts of traditional cars, which is why they are such jackrabbits.”
EV’s are jackrabbits because the motor has best torque at low RPM.
?
I’m talking about the driver’s experience, not the look of the car.
That’s one pretty Stang there!
“I’m talking about the driver’s experience, not the look of the car.”
Me, too. I let my friend and neighbor drive mine. His reaction: “I had no idea!”
“That’s one pretty Stang there!”
Thank you.
Found somw timeslips - 60 foot
Note this Mach-E GT versus GT500
Mach-E GT: 1.874 secs
GT500: 1.78 secs
