So are you close to fueling your EV via solar panels? lol...... Yeah charging it up directly during hopefully sunny daytime, right when you want to use your EV. So buy another extra EV battery that you can hoist in and out, swap in and out.

So you are an EV enthusiast?

I’d be 100% with you on relying on our natural resources, like we did successfully for years and was back to doing under Trump, particularly with the intermittent nature of things like solar power — except the libs keep that from happening. Even though I no longer rely on natural gas, as a lover of America I can’t stand the Dims practically doubling the price of natural gas in a year. I can’t stand Obama shutting down coal plants, making power rates shoot up like Bill’s blood pressure whenever Monica walked into the room. That’s why I went with solar. As I soon move into retirement I need the costs I can somewhat control to stay in a budget, solar gives me that kind of control over my energy costs.

Yes, and I could grow a bushel of bean sprouts in my kitchen from a handful of mung beans.

I just don’t want to. Same as hooking up my car for 12 hours, or 1 hour. Or, for that matter 12 minutes. Or having solar panels on my roof. Or, driving a Tesla.

I don’t care anything about the relative efficiency of electric power and I dare say neither do most Americans. The differential cost of running an electric vs as gas car might be 1/10 of 1% of my annual income. So, until you have a bunch of sprouting trays with mung beans on your kitchen counter, don’t think I am on board with electric cars. If it takes me 5 minutes a day to switch over to electric it is 5 minutes too long.

You are missing the point that combustion engines are first law of thermodynamics machines they will NEVER be as efficient as second law machines which am.electric motor is. Every person who passed freshman level physics can do the equations to prove this.

Well yea, I never said thermal engines were themselves more efficient than an electrical engine. That's not where EVs have most of their issues, though. That's just one part of the total equation. Some old Tesla study (way back in my posting history, I'm not digging that deep) said their losses from your wall to your vehicle were ~20%. An ICE has refueling losses of what, 0.00001%? Not to mention losses in transport: Power station to your house is something like 20-60% depending on total distance, transformer to house, etc. Fuel loss is almost zero on a pipe, and a small fraction on a tanker (burns, say, 100gal to transport 10M+ gal whatever distance). Production costs will vary greatly, depending on oil type and ease of refining, to methods of power generation for the EV (Hydrocarbon plants?!). So that's a wash without a lot of research that I don't care enough about this to really dig into :p
Your math there is missing the total power generated in order to get that 250kW into your vehicle (and yes, the costs into the 30gal ICE as well).

And of course, that ignores the value part: you can buy a Corolla or such that's about the same (obviously minus the fuel/drive types) as a Tesla for what, 1/4 the cost? 1/8?

EV’s regen 70% of the energy needed to accelerate that extra weight.

Advantage EV.

Per DDG, Teslas models range across 4-5M lbs.
Corollas are 2900.

2900/4000 = 72.5%
2900/5000 = 58%

Depending on model: advantage EV, or advantage ICE
