My understanding is that Biden’s plan to acquire at-home Covid tests is to seize state contracts. He was notified back in October that there would be a booming demand for tests and he did nothing. So, after the states took up the slack and ordered the tests themselves he comes along and hijacks their orders to save face.

The home test might come in handy if you ever have to go somewhere in an emergency that requires a test (e.g., visit somebody in the hospital).
Sad to say, I would not trust the government with a mail-in test.

First thing you do, is test one of the test kits with another to see if they’re sending a little something extra in the kits. Still leaves you with 2.
WOW. 4 FREE! So a family of 4 can test once when they get the sniffles and then what? Rush to the hospital? And what happens when 300 million people all test in the same week? 100 million “cases?” What a waste. Which politicians have their fingers in the company that is going to make them?

Four tests per household, regardless of number of people, for a lifetime, beginning in 2-4 weeks, is a meaningless gesture.
There are places on Earth that are providing one test per household MEMBER, 3x/week - daily, and have been doing so for several months.
