I felt the same way about Rush - “Bo” Snerdly said Rush’s voice was strong “until the end.”

But that isn’t true. I noticed Rush’s voice becoming weaker and weaker as his cancer spread.

I’ve also dealt with a number of family members who were taken by cancer and this happened to their voices as well.

I think they are delaying the other players’ signaling devices to give “it” an edge and giving “Amy” a study guide. The answers are too obscure in some cases when “it” misses so many easy ones.
