The CDC Data Tracker hasn’t been updated yet for today (must be a federal employee holiday) so I’m posting this since it probably parallels the nation wide count trend to a significant degree. Florida’s daily new case counts steady increase from 29,129 on Monday to 75,962 today almost certainly is largely owed to the Omicron variant. Florida got over its Delta surge earlier this year.

As many expected, based upon the experience in South Africa, this Omicron surge is not being accompanied by a proportionate surge in hospitalizations and deaths. So that is good news.

How can this be true? There are no tests for omicron and the CDC has said the PCR is being stopped and pulled because the tests show positive for influenza and other corona virus’ . Where do these numbers come from ?
