Plenty of beds; just no staff. Hospitals can’t count a “bed” if they don’t have the staff for it. Inflates the occupancy rate.

Uh?....Isn’t 85% capacity economically optimal for the patient, insurance companies, hospitals, and the taxpayer citizen?


My understanding is that baseline is 85-90%, and most hospitals have areas they can open up if they need more space.

Did the article cite any other stats to put this into perspective? what is typical occupancy rate?
