The director would definitely be involved in rehearsal, especially if they were blocking a scene. We don’t know all the facts yet, but if the director and cinematographer were hit, it’s logical to assume the gun was pointed toward the camera, as that’s where both would most likely be. It may be a scripted scene from the movie, i.e. a camera shot facing the gun. There are rumors flying around that live ammunition was used. Live ammunition would never be kept on a set, except for maybe security personnel.
