"Westerns use pedersoli and pietta and uberti and Colt etc remakes same as we would"

Someone earlier asserted that the weapon involved is a single-action revolver. I asked how that was known. If it is assumed just because the film genre is a "western," then that is rather short-sighted. There are "westerns" at the turn of the century (think: The Son) where semi-automatics (thank you, Mr. Browning! Also, Mauser and others made semi-automatic pistols during the late 1890's) were used.

Plus, the "revolver" could also be an exotic revolver, such as a LeMat used in the American Civil War (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LeMat_Revolver ; https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/pietta-lemat-cavalry-44-cal-black-powder-revolver), if the movie teller wanted to give the main character (?Baldwin) an "edgy" gun, either a semi-automatic or a LeMat.

True - but actors are usually very poorly trained in actually using real firearms. Most wouldn't be able to hit the broad side of a barn in real life. Alan Ladd had to do the shooting scenes over and over because he didn't like weapons and had no experience with shooting.

I can't wrap my mind around the idea that someone would have live ammo of any kind on the set: actors are for the most part, stupid and if someone put a weapon with live ammo in it in their hands, they'd likely kill someone with it.

All this is assuming that Baldwin didn't put the ammo in himself and intentionally shoot the cinematographer lady.

Alec Baldwin usually deserves all of the blame that we hurl his way but unless he was directing he probably doesn’t have much responsibility for this. Maybe some financial risk as producer.

The director and cinematographer will have picked the film shots and if it’s camera looking down gun barrel then they chose the risk. The director is responsible for safety on the set including gun safety, assuming that they even use real guns. There will be a crew member who does that job, they won’t have the actors doing it. And Baldwin is just an actor, living down to Alfred Hitchcock’s adage that actors are cattle and should be treated that way.

You haven’t read the eye witness accounts

You should

It was a camera front shot

This was simply bad assed luck for jackass Baldwin and those who were shot

The responsible party was the armorer

Baldwin like most actors is too ignorant to know how to check his prop or weapon as we would

It’s not expected of them

They expect blanks to be well blanks ....

Movies frequently film the actor shooting towards the camera.....which is what happened here sadly

The Uke lass was very pretty ....I’m sorry for her family and all concerned even Baldwin

Tragic accident

You don’t need to defend the Glock.

It defends itself. I know people who have them.

They never fail according to people.

I have them myself. I wasn’t defending the Glock so much as I was trying to enlighten the person.

How and why is it that Baldwin managed to hit a woman behind a camera and an assistant director?
