McConnell went from playing chess to playing poker...which carries grave risk. He’s counting on them not to get their act together to pass a reconciliation bill by the next deadline and leave them holding the bag “don’t blame us - we voluntarily gave them more time and they blew it again.” But they might not blow it again.

Any further debt ceiling increase bills should be coupled with language that funds government only at current levels and the debt limit only increases in like interval to cover it...no trillions more in spending...no more spending at all...and make it be through next year to November. Box them in - can’t claim you aren’t willing to raise the debt ceiling or that you are making cuts and this blocks giant additional spending bills. I’m probably dreaming, I know.
