No, it’s going to be something like those ancient warships. So instead of a hundred men rowing, there will be passengers flapping their arms.
Imagine riding thermals from New York to Los Angeles.
Sounds like we need a Hydrogen/Oxygen burning jet engine ... or one powered by capturing and using all the hot air emitted by politicians every day.
They are going to “solve” a problem they cannot define?
Airbus plans hydrogen fuel which has three times the energy per kg as jet fuel but is more difficult to store.

Iceland air plans to also use hydrogen in prefilled capsules for regional flights. Iceland has virtually unlimited geothermal power so they can very cheaply make hydrogen via electrolysis. They already use dirt cheap geothermal to smelt aluminum on a scale no where else in the world with aluminum smelting being one of the most energy intensive processes on a kg for kg output of product.
Seattle has already flown an all electric seaplane and plans to use them for short range hops around Puget sound region.

The same group is also targeting smaller regional flights. The economics of electricity vs $6.10+ gallon JetA is compelling as in five times cheaper per flight hour. 100LL is nearly $7 a gallon
