The Africans will miss the days of white colonialism.. ............... I guess that’s why they no longer have “Leopold Day”?
Hilarious
“A lot of Africa is just one big gang zone with different gangs fighting over controlling the local turf.”
So it’s like L.A., Chicago, New York, Baltimore or any other city with long term democrat government?
Good to know. Now I can scratch Africa off my bucket list since I’ve been to every major city in the US.
Nothing new to see.
Invite the soldiers to come to Washington.
Sounds like an internal matter in a pointless place.
It's Tuesday, but this sure ain't Belgium!
See: Afghanistan
That too.
With the notable exception of Belgian Congo.
I agree China will be ruthless, but probably by more subtle means than the outright slaughter of many millions. That won't fly in the 21st century.
Colonial rule in the Congo began in the late 19th century. King Leopold II of Belgium attempted to persuade the Belgian government to support colonial expansion around the then-largely unexploited Congo Basin. Their ambivalence resulted in Leopold's establishing a colony himself. With support from a number of Western countries, Leopold achieved international recognition of the Congo Free State, in 1885.[7] By the turn of the century, the violence used by Free State officials against indigenous Congolese and a ruthless system of economic exploitation led to intense diplomatic pressure on Belgium to take official control of the country, which it did by creating the Belgian Congo in 1908.[8]
Who will tell you about the slaughter? China is successfully buying up the West’s political/media/business class.
However, I agree. They will use local tribes and pressure groups to do their dirty work for them. For example, the Taliban in Afghanistan. or any number of guerilla groups across Africa and the drug cartel’s in South and Central America.
Sure, but my point was that Belgian Congo was not quite a shining example of Western enlightenment and Christian compassion. Whether it was the king, companies, or the Belgian government - that matters little.
