The tell tale act from the last election was when they intentionally, purposely, called Arizona for Biden with the polls open and people in lines to vote. Does that give Biden a win? NO, but it does demoralize Trump voters who haven't voted yet...THAT was their (FOX NEWS) intent.
AS to 2016, I think the polls had Hillary in a landslide. They probably thought they didn't need their cheat machine. Cheating when you're winning is to obvious even for Democrats.
By the time they realized what was happening it was too late. As you pointed out, they still tried but it was too late.
