I notice that most of the people trying to get me to leave positive feedback, even for a crummy product, were Chinese. They even offered me the product for free if I gave positive feedback. I said NO. I want to have the feedback mean something, not be a pack of lies.
To my experience, THAT is mostly on eBay, which is why I left after 17 years. I found out that eBay was removing negative feedback to make certain "supersellers" more attractive to buy from. Since eBay receives their cut from each sale, you can easily see why an unscrupulous company like eBay would not want to discourage people from buying stuff, even from lowlife sellers.
I finally got my Amazon delivery person trained to leave my packages on my doormat inside my building. Several times (almost always with Chinese sellers), I've ordered stuff that arrived damaged. Most notable were some small terracotta plant pots. They came in a sleeve, and every one of them was smashed. The replacement sleeve was not as smashed, but every one of the 10 pots had a hairline crack or worse in it. Amazon wanted to charge me months later for this stuff, but it was like them trying to pick up an enraged wildcat by the tail. They backed off. I told them I'm not paying them for what amounts to rubble.
Chances are that the product was made in China - and that the whole point is to get the buyer’s email and sell it. Its a common scam in China now expanded to everywhere else.
There are some really weird sellers on Amazon. If the product description reads as if English is a second language, avoid that seller. Pay a few extra dollars and buy from a reputable seller. I’ve had nothing but excellent service from Amazon. Every time there has been an issue they have refunded me no questions asked. As for the weird emails talked about in this story, do these customers know you can block email addresses so you won’t get emails from weird sellers?
Late reply: it’s hard for the company to reach you if you’re always on the toilet.
Bump for later ...
