Well, thank you very much. I don’t see any use of unions and my not knowing their exact makeup does not effect my life one bit.

And your answer shows you need to get some religion in you. Matthew 5:22

Fight unions is stupid. That war is over and we won it. Unions are less than 7% of the workforce and declining!!!

Why should I answer such a stupid question?

What happened when Henry Ford raised his wages to $5 a day, doubling the average US worker at the time? What happened to individual net worth when wages rose drastically in the late 40’s to late 60’s? I will answer that we had unprecedented good times, record home ownership, tens of millions out of poverty. Seniors able to retire with pensions in their 60’s. etc etc etc.

I will happily compare my net worth towards yours anyday of the week.

Again we are on a race towards the bottom via wages in this country. The new chinausa.

We’re all very impressed with your rich and powerfulness. If you only knew that money that goes for expenses comes from somewhere else - it’s not invented or imagined money.

That corresponding reduction is what you don’t understand.

Obviously an increase in labor requires an increase in revenue or a decrease in profits or retained earnings somewhere.

If you choose to reduce your profits for your employees I applaud you. BUT you are not going to be appreciated if you’re trying to reduce my profits just because you think I should. I’ll pay my employees what the market says - i’ll reward the good ones too. Keep your communist paws out of my business decisions.

I avoid supporting heroic small ( minded) businesses when ever possible. I know the true dark nature of their thinking. They over price and under pay and bitch, my God do they bitch. Almost as bad a farmers.

I only go when possible to big name corporate run places. I know what I am getting and under no illusion. They require no praise and are more unpretentious.

Depends on many factors.

Can the business absorb the extra overhead (With the sudden spike of wages recently that appears to be yes)?

What will the currently employed workers do? Well, right now they will be looking at better paying jobs. SO a $15 an hour worker today will be making $18 to $20 (or more). They may not be at the same place, as in my experience, raises are given when you start a job, not when you stay at one.

Set the minimum wage indexed to inflation from when it was first approved, and forget about it.

That will cause inflation.

We have inflation.

What you are saying it is better to force more and more people under the poverty line.

Or do you want chattel slavery to come back?

Wages have not kept up with inflation. Not even close. So when you see more and more people going on the dole, it is because THAT payment IS indexed to inflation.

It pays better to be on welfare than work a minimum wage job.

When you keep pushing the purchasing power of the hourly wage earners lower, and every increasing inflation, at some point you have a bloody mess.

I have a personal measure of how well a local area is doing economy wise. If I see people under the age of 30 working fast food or retail, that means most adults are finding better paying jobs. That was the theory of the minimum wage, in that it hurts people just starting out.

As I have traveled
the US, that is very, very few places. Most are older adults, some senior.

If I’m a small business owner and have $20 an hour to budget but need two people and I’m forced to pay $15 an hour, I’m going to keep the good worker and fire the other one.

What people forget, it’s not just the money, but also the experience and responsibility that comes with being employed that allows most people to use entry level positions to move onto higher paying positions.

Very few people stay at minimum wage jobs.
