I think that the Arabs will take their “toast” with “milk and honey”.

The Arab (muslim) Party’s M. Abbas is now deputy minister in PM Office, Chair Knesset Interior committee; so they are on their way to the toaster carrying the bread.
Yeah the shuttle raids were not at all something that worked out well. Once the Germans understood the concept and with soviet suspicions it was a bad concept. There’s good book called the Poltava Affair.
The Russians provided a lot of support but were unskilled and had abysmal infrastructure. And the worst thing they did was when the Germans followed the bombers to their base and launched a devastating raid. The Russians refused to allow US fighters to take off.
Only a simpleton complains that America didn’t bomb the rails. I knew Bibi was a MAGA back stabber, but I didn’t know he was that dumb and gullible.
P
Bombing railroad tracks would have been less effective than a Civil War cavalry raid for the same purpose. Destroying rails so that they could not simply be re-used requires a lot of time & manpower.
I recall that the Brits made a very sophisticated air raid against a POW camp designed to knock down a wall (without killing/injuring the POW’s) to support a mass break. But no death camp inmate was going to have any kind of strength to escape & evade... not on the caloric intake that they were getting.
This is an Israeli political narrative that survives because the Media and indeed some historians allow it.
Stick a fork in them. Sucks, but that’s how it is.
Directly after the new Israeli government was sworn in, the PLO and Hamas threatened to attack Jerusalem.
Hell, if they would just wait a few weeks, this new Prime Minister will probably give them the whole damn city!
Israel is TOAST! I Think Benjamin was the last PM to actually give a damn about that country...much like Trump and the US!
“President Franklin Roosevelt declining to bomb the train tracks to Auschwitz when he had the opportunity.”
Unfortunately low on the target list at that time. (I believe Gen. Lemay discussed this in a book). Ballbearing factories, aircraft factories and petroleum processing facilities all had priority.
Flying over Germany without fighter escort equated to roulette odds in coming back.

Foundations of Holocaust: Roosevelt’s decision to not bomb Auschwitz (Jerusalem Post)
Good article on the question of whether the U.S. should have bombed Auschwitz.
US European war policy 1941-1945 had nothing to do with Jews.
Exactly. Right out of the gate.
“Bombing the rails” in France around D-Day was highly effective in slowing down German troop movements.
Netanyahu’s first loyalty has always been to Israel - as it should be...
I wish he had waited a few weeks to congratulate Biden too, but he probably remembered the frosty relationship with Obama and wanted to get off on a better footing with Biden.
Not that it would have helped... Biden and democrats are closet anti-semites...
Anyhow I’m glad Netanyahu’s telling the truth about Biden, Kerry, Obama etc. and their secret traitorous dealings with Iran...
You’re on the way to becoming the next Tom Clancy. You’ve got the beginnings of a great plot.
And that raid was in Amiens France, 50 miles past the English Channel. That’s around 10 minutes of flying time for a mosquito bomber once they cross the coast. They had another really successful raid in Denmark against the Gestapo headquarters. Again, crossing them from the North Sea over land and then were nearly at the target. Also, people act like Auschwitz was the only death camp.
A huge majority of the dead in the holocaust were simply shot on the edge of a ditch. It’s childish to think that anything other than winning the war was going to stop the mass murder.
Also, as I said, it wasn’t until March 1944 that we were able to go to Berlin in daylight. At that point in the war, it was not a done deal that we were going to win the war. There was always the surprise. What if Germany got a bomb. What is the Soviets got to the edge of Poland and decided to stop? And at that point, there was an aggressive bombing campaign to degrade the Germans ability to interfere with us at Normandy.
Good analogy about a Civil War cavalry raid.
Yeah, it did, in the summer of 1944 when we utterly ruled the skies. At that time we painted bold visibility stripes on our planes to help the swarms get better recognized. We weren’t even worried about camo anymore. Thunderbolts and Typhoons formed taxicab ranks around targets to ensure orderly attacks. Lowest in gas got the target.
Contrast that to our non-existent mastery of the air over Poland in 1943-44.
😎 thanks for the P, bitt.

That article is very slanted towards the concept that we should have bombed. And it slanders the American people as not doing it because they hated Jews also.
Also it would’ve been a surprise to American airmen to know that they could roam over Poland at will in 1944 and that the luftwaffe was dead. What happens in this modern debate, is that in a world of smart bombs people tend to think why not just bomb the rail?
The only possible alternative was the bomb the camp itself. German propaganda would’ve had a complete field day with us bombing a “labor camp.”
Worst of all, it would’ve been a distraction from actually winning the war. Even that article says German oil supplies would’ve probably been extended. And that more than anything else kept the Lavoie grounded eventually. Lack of fuel hurt them in the battle of the bulge. It’s childish to run off chasing distractions like bombing the rails to Auschwitz.

Really when you get down to it, spending time going after the V-1 and V-2 sites lengthened the war. But politically it was probably impossible not to.
And everybody forgets the Japanese. In 1944 it was not at all obvious that we’re going to have an atomic bomb. Dragging the war on in Europe unnecessarily long, or even god forbid having it stall when we hit the German border would have been a horror.
And people expected the ground invasion of Japan to grind on through 46, and require thousands of bombers from Europe and hundreds of thousands of soldiers.
The Jerusalem Post has a narrow minded childish view. It’s a slander against America.
