But you find a rich guy who likes your idea and he gives you money to help build the model and gets a percentage in return. Even the Wright brothers used the capital from their bike shop to fund the planes they built. Not everything technical can be boot strapped from nothing.. Especially when the government steals 40-50% of your money. Turnpikes, bridges, railroads, canal systems were built by shareholders buying stock in the ideas of the people who wanted to build these projects.

Ahhh..... the 200 mpg carb of the 70’s. Believe it or not, it was fully functional until the gas companies changed the formula. Just one of many examples throughout the years of TPTB squashing innovators.
