So, you have the Speaker of the House, who is the executive in charge at the Capitol, who orchestrated the timing of the Capitol Hill Police letting in the crowds AGAINST known protocols. Protocols which include all who enter must go through the metal detector, no one can carry in a backpack and no strollers. If women want to carry in a purse it must be the size of a hand wallet. PLUS, you have to get a ticket from your congressman 2 to 3 months in advance. All these entry procedures were laid aside because Pelosi wanted it all laid aside. Then she left the chamber for 10 minutes during which time she let the Capitol Hill Police to proceed with the opening.

This is interesting. McCarthy sent John Katko as his representative to negotiate the commission structure. Katko supposedly got everything McCarthy wanted, including equal D/R representation and subpoena power for both sides.

Effectively, Pelosi gave on everything to call McCarthy's bluff. Now McCarthy has the choice of throwing his own guy, Katko, under the bus or risk upsetting Trump.
