At the very least, it should be noted that prior to July 4, 1776, there was no United States. The federation did not exist until then. Just prior to the Civil War, Free States outnumbered Slave States by 19:15.
The Vietnamese Boat People arrived here with nothing.
They got six Months of Welfare to get them on their feet.
They couldn’t even speak English.
Somehow their Families stuck together and took every menial Job available to them, even if they were Educated Professionals in their Home Country.
They worked Multiple Jobs, saved their Money and bought Homes with multi Generations living in them.
They made sure their Children got an Education and went to College no matter the sacrifices they had to make.
Today most of them are very successful.
Spare me the poor Black bullshit. The Black People we know work hard and appreciate what they have. Unfortunately too few of them follow suit.
In the Liberia pic, I see a Texaco gas station sign down the street on the right.
That is a bit pessimistic, as well as inaccurate. There is a natural model for the family that has, and does, work quite well. The denial of this is one of the major sources of the problems that we face today.
“The only way to close that gap is for them to move somewhere cold and wait 10,000 years.l
I’m okay with that.

Everyone except the leftist lunatics are rejecting this racist crap. There’s no hint of this racist narrative in the state I live in, except from leftist lunatics in the crumbling, democrat cities. And the leftists are outnumbered 100 to 1.
Though we do get occasional leftist, racist farts from a few politicians and Nazi propagandists in the media. They are laughed at.
No opportunity he says? I spit at the notion. Preferential quotas don’t already provide unequal opportunity? Who wrote this crap for the spittle laden tool?
The only blacks that are “behind” are the folks who refuse to assimilate.
It’s the culture, stupid.
They’ll take what they can get, but then bitch and moan claiming that society is against them.
.......................................
This is the behavior that pisses me off. It doesn’t bother me at all if people choose to live the simple life, and wish to avoid the hassles that come with striving for what society deems to be a successful lifestyle! In fact, I know quite a few such people who ask for nothing except what they are rightfully entitled to. The moaners and whiners on the other hand, always looking to blame others because they can’t afford the material things they think they deserve just for breathing, get no sympathy or anything else from me.
Well said. It doesn’t matter how much you give this type of individual either, because it will never be enough.
.and the teachers are some of the highest paid in the country.
................................................
And probably some of the most ignorant and bigoted in the country!
LOL! Yup. (Lack of) joy reid sure missed an opportunity right? Or, all lebron no lebrains. Or commie-lah. Or obxxx.
Sorry Plugs, you STUPID senile DUMB@SS, you can’t reel it back in!! And you can’t have it both ways either, you lying sack of sh*t!
You have slandered our great country as being racist over and over and OVER again! You have also declared that “white supremacy” is the biggest security threat to our country!!
We know what you REALLY think, Joe, you stupid senile racist @sshole!!! You can’t whitewash over your obvious racist arrogance!!
The Great Society programs didn’t just fail to fix the problems. It made them much worse.
If the black community is so far behind the democrooks only have one to blame.
The Democrat Party and only them.
400 years ago there were no slaves. There were no slave codes or laws, only those that pertained to indenturement. And those are the codes that prevailed until the Barbados Codes were adopted as a result of numerous armed revolts and murder rampages, including inciting and enjoining indian attacks, and as a result of blacks joining and acting as spys and insurgents for the British, Spanish and French forces.
As of 1776, a full 3/4 of all American colonists were indentured servants to absent owners. Schools were not mandatory or even widely available, indentured children viewed as ‘little adults’ were expected to work not study, although the northern colonies had more church-related schools than the agricultural south. Most denied education to females beyond basic reading and writing levels, leading to a high illiteracy rate among women as they forgot what was taught in childhood.
Slaves were taught to read as part of their conversion from Islam to Christianity. Writing was outlawed after slaves started forging their own travel passes and freedom papers. Even so, on southern plantations many times the children of the laborers would educate black children in reading and writing by playing school, and those children would enducate their mothers in turn.
After the Civil War there was no infrastructure left in the South to finance education, and for those who struck out west, and those who created hundreds of exclusively ‘black towns’, education would have been the responsibility of the parents, with noone else to provide it. Teachers imported from the east were in high demand and commanded high wages.
The first compulsory school law was passed in the state of Mass in 1852, allowing for children to be removed from households that couldn’t afford the school fee. A 1922 attempt by Oregon to do the same was overturned by the Supreme Court, who wrote “”a child is not a mere creature of the state”. England’s compulsory education law wasn’t passed until 1880. The Great Depression and the Dust Bowl Drought also interrupted education, with parents unable to afford the cost.
For the most part, save for the northeast who increasingly modeled themselves on Europe’s caste system, prior to WW1 the majority of the US citizenry, black, white and other, was ‘behind the eight ball’ in education and in opportunity. No racism required.
Those who make comments about ‘lack of opportunity’ have no clue about the history of the United States, a vast land of expanding pioneers fighting for freedom on multiple fronts, not a land of suburbs, interstates, skate parks and modern conveniences, just waiting for humans to move in.
Compulsory education by year by nation

And so many have moved backwards since you started trying to ‘help’ them.
Zactly!
Sort of like “history?”. Pfffftttttt! Sad.
You have smacked the nail solidly on the head. In our country it’s too easy to successfully be shiftless.
