Seems that metric would be blasted far and wide but I see little about it. Our media can’t do anything right, ever.
From one long term care outbreak:
“unvaccinated residents and health care personnel (HCP) had 3.0 and 4.1 times the risk of infection as did vaccinated residents and HCP.
Vaccine was 86.5% protective against symptomatic illness among residents and 87.1% protective among HCP.”
Less than a hundred people though.
Having another hissy fit, are you? That is really a daily thing for you.
Oh what a gift the gods would give ye
To see yourself as others see ye
You are the one who attacks first, you have little credentials and appear completely devoid of rational thought. Sorry that the truth hurts, Cathi.
It did work during the initial covid run, this is the third run if I am not mistaken. Perhaps it has mutated.
Haha. How do YOU know?
p.d. Its abundantly clear that Cathi is not an idiot. I can tell that from way over here.
“I see your understanding of how to read death certificates is surpassed only by your understanding of statistics and medical literature”
Please share the statistical analysis of 10 year outcomes for the cv19 vaxs. Tell us about the the independent measured variables, the various output measures, the rigorous data collection system, and qualitative monitoring. Tell us about the dynamic modeling. Tell us about the true placebos used for the full 10 years.
I’ve worked in modeling and statistics 25 years. I’d be out of work in an instant if I removed placebo type controls (parallel to open loop response testing in refinery processes).
Information is information, and facts are facts.
You don't have to jump in the fire to know it burns.
And above all else, always, ALWAYS remember....
p
To believe or not to believe. That is the question.
I would really enjoy hearing your credentials on the treatment of CoVID and your background in medical education beyond cut and paste.
So gas_dr can’t refute the argument.
I post here only to remind Cathi, clesrly a good poster, about the quote attributed to Mark Twain about arguing with fools.
The thing is that not only have they gone full on Baghdad Bob, but they have also limited the news they will cover to only stories that they can use for propaganda. There is no balance, there is no news of what else is going on, even for important allies like India, Euro Zone countries, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel, nothing like that. We don’t get business news, economic news, and the interesting new tech we get to hear about is limited to a smattering of stories about NASA or Elon Musk. What we get instead is “entertainment news” about athletes and people in Hollywood and the music industry and assorted awards shows.
You can still get the news via news organizations from other countries, but our own news is cooked.
I’m not a PhD, am not qualified to give expert testimony, but I know my job. The testing done not just on vaccines, but also on Pharma is not credible.
I’ve seen test results on nutritional supplements presented as “effective” with a very low correlation, so it isn’t just Pharma.
Anyone trained in data and statistics can make it show almost anything they want. Just make sure you have at least one reasonable independent variable, and then remove all the data which does not correlate...
As 2aProtectsTheRest has pointed out elsewhere, the high numbers in India provide many opportunities for mutations.
There are already reports of new variants of concern out of India - so-called “double” and “triple” mutant variants, that combine problematic features of other variants.
I have refuted the argument multiple times, it is Cathi who cannot answer a direct question.
Go with the 7 day average and even then dismiss 1 or 2 day jogs.
Thanks, yes case rates fluctuate everywhere. But, it was India’s dramatic and sudden surge which they are attributing to a new virus variant with several mutations which made me wonder if a variant was beginning to make the rounds and affect Israel’s jump to 315 coming after a solid week of approximately 150 new cases a day.
India was under 20,000 new daily cases in March and now is seeing 300,000. And India had done very well throughout this whole pandemic compared to us. Four time our population; only one half our overall deaths.
Hopefully this will remain limited to India and end soon.
The difference was, America had a President to get rid of. That was priority #1 for the derps.

I know that India has the BCG vaccine which helped to blunt Covid-19 as it did in many other countries. I know (in my limited non-scientist way) that viral load plays a big role in how sick you get with this thing, and that breakthrough happens with variants in even vaccinated people. I think the viral load significance of this makes this bug different from what we are used to and I can see this being a very big problem, particularly in crowded places like India.
Doc, I hate to slightly disagree, but, the shapes of the 7 day average case and fatality curves in India are much worse than ours were in November. That especially if you expand both out to a 2 or 3 month period. We sort of juked and jogged around as our numbers went up, but never sustained steep velocity or acceleration in the curves for long, leading to a slower overall rise. India's curves... Sweet Jesus. They look almost "textbook", with classic, smooth, "simple model" velocity and acceleration (1st and 2nd derivatives for those into calculus), and no sign yet of slowing due to, well, anything, at present.
I guesstimated on another thread that due to the lag from cases to fatalities, India has around 5k fatalities / day "baked in" about 2 weeks from now. If care shortages are already becoming evident, that number may be too low. And if the cases don't slow soon, I don't think 10k fatalities per day is out of the question. Pretty sobering stuff. Prayers for all.
