I recall another Freeper remarking not long after the 2018 tragedy that they remembered that area back in the 1960s and ‘70s had all sorts of Air Force and NASA personnel living there and it was a very much conservative and upright sort of populace as a result.

I had Grandparents we used to visit in Ft. Lauderdale back in the late 60’s early 70’s. It was still O.K. but the riff raff kept moving in forcing those with means to move to W. Palm or further North.
