There might be a reason for Black Women having difficult or dangerous births and it isn’t race.......
It’s culture.
Speaking only as a Detroit ghetto Medic (what we’re called) I can say prenatal care is extremely low. Many cases no ultra sound, no Doctor visit at all despite these woman having Medicaid and don’t need to pay anything for care and treatment.
When EMS is called, we arrive to a woman in heavy labor, or beginning to birth......she has no idea if she’s carrying twins, a breach, or when the baby is due.
If they should have a C-Section......oh well, too late now. She’s birthin’ this baby.
That’s why black woman have more complications during child birth.
What are the numbers for folks of Jamaican heritage?
Indian (subcontinent) heritage?
The “blacks” she speaks of have nothing to do with her background—nothing.
The ones who have never born children are the experts!!!!
My daughter has been a NICU nurse for 8 years. She would tell you that they are more likely to die in connection with child birth because of drug addiction issues. Just sayin’ maybe Kamala should explore what the real causes of death are for these women.
She might also chart out, how much out of pocket $$ is a black woman likely to pay for prenatal, labor, and delivery care vs a Caucasian woman? That would likely produce some interesting results.
