Deb Haaland should have testified, “I speak from an office that was once the terrain of a duly appointed Republican...”
LOLs. My ancestors were Celts, but I've been lambasting Harry Windsor all week. That makes me a racist.
In all of the Indian wars, there were some Indians fighting on the side of the US Army (against their traditional enemies).
Northern Plains...
Allies of the US...Shoshone, Ute, Ree, Pawnee, Bannock, Nez Pierce, Crow, Osage, Kaw, Winnebagos, and many smaller tribes such as the Poncas, Otoes, Peorias, Omahs, Mandans.
Southern Plains..
Allies of the US ...
Caddos, Anadarkos, Wacos, Tawakonis, Tonkawas and many more smaller tribes.
We did have a few fights with our allies from time to time. The Nez Pierce and Utes comes to mind.
The Nez Perce story is a particularly sad one given that they tried their best to stay at peace with the white man. I have been to Bears Paw battlefield in Montana where Chief Joseph was forced to surrender—very evocative lonely place. A distant relative supposedly had the grave of Old Joseph on his farm in Oregon but was careful not to cultivate the burial site—when he was growing old he arranged to have the grave moved. But there is some doubt whether it really was Old Joseph’s grave. The US government’s treatment of Chief Joseph after his surrender was outrageous.
Is this author arguing against the identification of former indian lands as not being former or that the indians were savages?
It seems like he is arguing more of the latter than the former and of the latter he is correct without doubt. Of the former, that is past history and it is too late to stuff that genie back in the bottle.
McGirt vs Oklahoma is making a full bore mess of things in Oklahoma and it is far from over.
Apologists the world over, including Mr. Gorsuch, have no identification with self-preservation or survival. So much so that they should all just commit suicide and let us be free of them and their guilt.
