Doesn’t statehood have to be approved by the states, or can it be done unilaterally by Congress? Congress only: Article IV, Section 3.
To: Marko413
They voted in 2020 for statehood.
"Should Puerto Rico be admitted immediately into the Union as a State?"
Yes: 655,505 (52.52%)
No: 592,671 (47.48%)
Again, doesn't matter, as Schumer just last month said no to statehood for Puerto Rico statehood, calling the island corrupt.

It is far more beneficial to receive social benefits without having to pay federal taxes. They pay FICA like everyone else. A good percentage of the population is already subject to federal income tax. With deductions and tax credits available I would be surprised if much of the rest of the population has to pay any income tax as well. Taxes are a non-issue.

If it can benefit dems, it needs nothing more than an executive order

Schumer already said he opposes Puerto Rican statehood. If it guarantees him two more seats for his majority then watch him flip again.

An unfortunate combination of the two.

I thought PR has said that they don’t want statehood

That’s true.

I was going to say it took this long and that shows racism and bias against Puerto Rican people. Some reparations on the way? All this time and the bill wasn’t even introduced yet?

Again, doesn't matter, as Schumer just last month said no to statehood for Puerto Rico statehood, calling the island corrupt. I thought everyone understood that those words translated from Schumerese or Senatian meant "I will approve it only if you fill my pockets with Gold".

It is far more beneficial to receive social benefits without having to pay federal taxes. As a form of reparation Puerto Ricans will be granted a 100 year tax holiday.

So you trust a source that's (a)ignorant and (b) too stupid to look up a bill to see if it actually exists?
That says quite a bit about you.

What do thy have to be scared of? They control the education system. the media, and now the entire government.
—
yes that exactly why they are scared - its too good to be true and they must do every thing possible to cover all bases, hence the need for HB1. They cannot lose their life long dream of destroying the US and its culture -

He’ll realize that it’s a little easier being Senate Majority Leader in a 52 to 50 Senate than it is in a 50 to 50 Senate.

I’m not blaming conservative voters. quite the opposite, in fact. I’m blaming the cowards and quitters that WEREN’T conservative voters in the runoff.
and it’s an irrefutable argument, so give it up.
many of us also warned you what would happen if you screwed this up, so this is squarely on the boycotters.
To: Trump20162020
schumer’s denial is worthless, and you should know that.
To: RandFan
And BTW, you're obviously too lazy to go to the alleged source your "source" uses (Politico) to see if that story exists on their webpage (it does not.)
Conclusion: you' posted crap. This thread should be pulled.
