No, plastic will not be cheaper. It is a byproduct of petroleum and requires the same energy, processes to get it and a process to extract its components from petroleum. They are NOT the same components that make up either gasoline or diesel fuel so plastic won’t be cheaper.
So what will we do then with all the unrefined waste that would’ve been converted to gas or diesel fuel? Dump it in a landfill along with all the windmill blades and solar panels that cannot be recycled and become toxic waste?
BTW, ERCOT is not part of the national or regional grid, so getting power from elsewhere wasn’t an option.
