I can just envision thousands more windmills just bought and paid for as part of a $100 TRILLION dollar Green New Deal all froze up and not spinning in West Texas. People also forget that a windmill can be perfectly able to spin, but ice on the blades makes them un aerodynamic and unable to spin to catch the wind.

They had helicopters spraying deicing compound on the blades trying to get them to spin. How much fuel does a helicopter use in a 12 hour day times hundreds of windmills? Why can't people just take no for an answer?

OK, I did. While I agree about most of your points, I think you are handwaving about superheated steam plants not possibly freezing up. It would be the secondary cooling loops and pumps. You dont run cooling pond water through the superheated loop, that has to be ultra clean I think. Any contamination in that loop is like shooting bullets through the turbine.

I think there is blame enough for all kinds of power in this.

Oddly, this crisis has made it more acceptable on the left to talk about nuclear. Noticed that on CNBC.

Good try, but super heated boilers gives you the access to heat to keep the plant running. Remember this is just single digit temps. It's not like it was minus 50 in Antarctica. Plants in Michigan work through colder temps every winter. The problem started with windmills STOPPING. That put the call for Nat Gas power overnight.

I'm 69 yo and lived in Texas all my life since birth. We never had these problems except in rare cases. A gas plant blew up about 30 some odd years ago and over taxed the existing grid for a few hours. don't remember a coal plant ever quitting, but I haven't studied the topic for a quiz.

When the papers are all done you will see the failure of windmills started this ball rolling. This is important because of California being the new normal for Democrats and Democrats are in charge right now. I can almost assure you that Biden will give a speech in the near future saying we need the Green New Deal because "Just look at what happened to Texas!" Solar and Wind give to Democrats. That's all you need to know and they will attempt to use this for their benefit. We've already seen they make their own meme and the media backs them up no matter what the truth is. Windmills kill most of the birds that die each year, but they sell it like hunters are killing the birds. They will put an Indian in prison for picking up an eagle feather, yet windmills kill hundreds of eagles a year.

I started hearing almost immediately that "Windmills were the cause of this" or "Nat Gas shut down also". That's why I posted in the first place. Just picture an earthquake taking out 25% of the states power. Electric companies are used to adjusting output 2-3% up to maybe 10%, not 25%.

If you read the economics of windmills, it's all about subsidies and maintenance. A windmill loses money even if it spins 7 days a week. Oh, and most of them and the parts come from ..........................China! (along with solar panels) We already went through this with Obama.
