Adaptation of an old joke:

President Trump on his last day in office, left Joe Biden two envelopes labeled #1 and #2. Trump also left a note that said “upon your first major crisis in office, when you’re not sure what to do, open envelope #1. Upon your second major insolvable crisis in office, open envelope #2.

Weeks went by, until there appeared a national crisis: North Korea tested a nuclear device and claimed to have an ICBM capable of reaching the United States. Worrying about how to handle the situation, he remembered the two envelopes left by Trump. He reached for the first envelope, and opened it. Inside was a letter with these words:

“Blame your predecessor.”

So Biden held a press conference and blamed the North Korean aggression on Trump’s coddling of Kim, and swore to strengthen sanctions on the Hermit Kingdom. The crisis was averted.

Years went by, but eventually another major crisis that Biden didn’t know how to handle occurred. Sitting behind the Truman desk in the Oval Office, Biden reached for the second envelope. He ripped it open, and inside was a note with these words:

“Prepare two envelopes...”
