My sister just signed up on MeWe. She’s pretty savvy about media and does a decent amount of research. I’ve never jumped in on any of them. FR is the closest I get to social media.
Yes, but it's a horrible experience on a mobile device. Which is why I almost never go to Free Republic on one.
I found the Twitter app very useful because I could keep up with my news feed from the train, standing in line at the grocery store or lying in bed early in the morning.
Now I'm switched over to Parler but obviously that might not last very long if iOS shuts it down.
“”That’s what VPN’s are used for, to keep snoopy local internet providers from playing games, such as blocking DNS lookups for Parler.com, etc.””
Companies control VPNs and Internet access.
Just need those companies to ‘go along’ with what the betrayers in our country desire.
.
Side-loading an app on an iPhone is easy. Apple even distributes an application for that laptops to do it with: Configurator 2.
You download the app file (ipa) to your laptop, drag it to Apple Configurator 2 and boom, it’s installed on your phone.
Both Apple and Android will allow you to install apps from sources other than their official stores (without jailbreaking the phone) IF you know the procedures.
We just need to make those procedures common knowledge.
Of course, you lose the automatic updates that take place via the stores, but that’s another problem that can be figured out.
In other words, Apple & Google are shooting themselves in the foot by giving people an incentive to bypass their official stores for apps.
Sure, it's not difficult to even find your way into China. But... the vast majority of even intelligent people - I work with a bunch of PhDs - won't be bothered to get around the pain in the ass road blocks that are being set up.
The only reason they need the license is otherwise Apple would kick them off the app store. But, if they've already kicked you off the app store, there's not technical barriers to installing apps from non-app-store sources.
Same is true for Android.
Savvy tech guys will find a way, they always do.What will they do when the internet providers cut them off?
Yes, but it's a horrible experience on a mobile device. Which is why I almost never go to Free Republic on one.
Little know fact: many phone apps are simply web-views (web pages wrapped in an app).
As far as I can tell, Breitbart's app is web-view based.
A site can detect the user's device type (computer or mobile) and display different versions of the web page.
Free Republic displays the same page no matter what the device, but it's quite possible for them to detect the device and serve a page appropriately formatted for a mobile device.
You probably really mean web site provider. You choose one like the one FR has chosen.
They don’t control the VPN from your house, or phone.
naaahhhh . Just have to work with duck go go or other search engines to create a search result panel that looks like the app store. downloads can occur from anywhere. Payment can be done via portal where everything looks the same. all the real cool aps will be found there once they censor the crap out of everyone else.
But I can web browse to Parler (even using Google) and download the app from there on my Samsung Android phone...>>> Yes all aps can be downloaded. Like my other post. Duck go or search engine can create a panel that looks just like the web store just links to each apps home site for info and downloading.
You probably really mean web site provider.Suppose I have Verizon wireless and internet service.
What's to keep them from monitering my online activity and ban my account if I go to a prohibited site or refuse to engage in Newspeak?
Easy as pie. You use an alternative DNS provider, not the default Verizon sets up. There are many that you connect to via SSL, so Verizon can’t see diddly and snoop/block.
Browsers have settings like this so they can’t snoop on the trafic to/from your browser to the site: Firefox:
HTTPS-Only Mode
HTTPS provides a secure, encrypted connection between Firefox and the websites you visit. Most websites support HTTPS, and if HTTPS-Only Mode is enabled, then Firefox will upgrade all connections to HTTPS.
Enable HTTPS-Only Mode in all windows
Enable HTTPS-Only Mode in private windows only
Don’t enable HTTPS-Only Mode
There are also private VPN services where you connect to them and they pop you out onto the internet somewhere else. Of course the “No Such Agency” can trace those connections backl to you (as the dummies engaging in criminal activity using TOR found out), but for non-interesting partisan ranting, it’s perfect.
*(In theory they could switch cloud providers if Amazon dumps them, but its not easy and takes major rewrite of infrastructure code and might take rewrite of backend application code as well).
Thanks for the tips.
Refuses my Canada #, hell, I do not even want to give my # to some internet crapolla. Why is it promoted?
What kind of site is Clouthub? These things are springing up all over the place.
Conservatives may have to switch to Linux as an operating system. Parler would be well advised to develop a Linux version.
